kitchen/livingroom open concept problems

we have an open concept livingroom/kitchen space. we have dark brown furniture in both rooms as well as pine.  we are in the process of painting all the pine trim and doors a cream ( more off white then anything ) colour. the walls in livingroom are a sage green and in the kichen the walls are chocolate brown and the cupboards are yellow. we really like the colours we have on walls and cupboards however not sure if they all blend. we want to replace old yellow countertop but not sure what to choose. also we have flooring issues. the original flooring is still in kitchen and we would like to bring it back. different colour of flooring in livingroom. unsure of what colour to stain or to leave natural. we want advice on how to blend the flooring in both rooms.  a wall was removed and fireplace extracted which has left a patch on floor with no flooring at all. any advice you can give us would be so greatly appreciated. accent colours i am considering are purples and blues. thanks so muchtammy wallace

Definately get rid of the bar and get a longer table.  Yellow tends to look nice with oak colours, earth tones, and black and white patterns.  May I suggest a butcher block countertop.  I would rip out the flooring that is in worse shape and replace with a close copy of the other wood floor.
