Morning!
I thought I would quickly post an update on Kohl..
He has gained a pound! I know not exciting but when your dog has kidney failure I guess it is a big thing. He seems happy go lucky... Thank you for your prayers and concerns. They seem to be working in his favor!
He is on this funny powder medication.. We just started it this morning. He doesn't seem to like it... We have to really mix it into his wet food...

Good to hear that Kohl is doing OK :)
I have to give my horse a powdered medication every two days. At first, she didn't seem to like it when I gave it to her with her dry food only. Then I started to mix it with a wet ingredient (beet pulp) so that the powder would stick to the beet pulp and it would also help it dissolve. For the summer, I added a splash of cider vinegar (sort of an internal bug repellant), and I'm telling you, my horse goes CRAZY when she knows her food is coming!! Can you do something similar with Kohl's medication?? Is there a wet food that he likes that you could mix the powder with?? Through in a bit of dry food as well, and maybe a bit of broth, and mix it all up.
Glad you hear that things are improving. Every little bit counts. I know what its like to have a sick pet and it sucks! I'm sending Kohl happy vibes for a speedy recovery. :) :) :)
I was wondering how Kohl was doing (and you since you haven't been around lately).
Boy powdered stuff is sometimes harder to deal with than pills if it tastes bad to the dog. With my old dog I ended up getting a little hand blender (just stirring never mixed it well enough for her) and mixing her powdered vitamins in with tomato juice (she loved that stuff) or milk. It had to be totally mixed or she would have none of it. She never would take it mixed with food.
Does Kohl have hepatitis? There is a thread from last week where hepatitis came up. If you look under 'vet costs are obscene' you'll see the posts.
