Late Issues - again

I love getting this magazine but am really becoming annoyed at receiving it after it comes out on the news stands. I live in a City and receive all my other magazines before they come out for sale. Today is a rainy day and I was looking forward to making a cup of tea and reading. I went for the mail and again - no magazine. It was to be on the stands March 17th. Does anyone else have this problem?

I finally got my mag on Friday - just two weeks late! When I get fed up waiting I often get other mags at Costco. They are a bit cheaper than in the stores. Did enjoy the mag. especially Condo living. Hope that might be a monthly feature - as there are a lot of us out there.

I finally got mine on Friday. I had been looking at it for 2 weeks on the newstand. I don't mind waiting. It's the price I refuse to pay on the stands. I picked up a small Canadian magazine last night at chapters, and it was $11.00 for 36 pages. It was a tiny cottage magazine. Cold day in heck before I paid that for a magazine. I'll buy from ebay first before I do that.

I'm just relaying the message, hoping to shed some light for you.

From what I understand we cannot guarantee that you will get your issue before it arrives on stands (due to geography, mailing delays, etc.) The main benefit to subscribing is the convenience of home delivery and the substantial savings.

I really feel for you. You can call our subscriptions office at 1-800-559-8868 for more information if you'd like.

It certainly seems to be a BC thing. I had mine the Friday before I saw it on the stands. I must say, I e-mailed circulation when I missed an issue during my move - I had notified them a couple of months in advance - and they extended my subscription :) ! I feel so bad for you guys - I know how aggravated I am when I get my other mags late!

Thanks Jody - but it is now the 25th and I did not receive my magazine again today. What I would like to know is why do other subscriptions come on time. I'm so mad right now. I've been painting all morning and just figured I would be getting some decorating ideas from my magazine this afternoon. I guess I will pour over Style at Home and others instead. Style at Home was to be on the stands on April 19 and I got mine on the 17th!

Hi Everyone,

I spoke to one of the ladies in our circulation dept. and she filled me in a bit....

The magazines are mailed one week
prior to the date they arrive on newsstands. Unfortunately they can take anywhere from 5 days to 3 weeks to arrive -- this is information that Canada Post has given us.

I know it doesn't help you any, but I wanted to keep you informed.

Thanks,
Jody

I'm in Maple Ridge, so not too far from you, and I always receive mine after it's already on the newstand. The other mags I subscribe to come on time every month, and like you, I thought this was one of the benefits of subscribing!

It's especially sad, when you read on the forums that someone has received theirs, so you run to your mailbox, expecting to find yours too, and it's not there! :(

Maybe they don't like West Coasters?

I have contacted the Post Office because the H & H issues are so often late. They say there is no problem. The thing is I subscribe to three other decorating magazines and they all come when they are supposed to. I think if H & H can't get their issues out on time they should extend the date that the issue is to be on the news stands. I always thought part of subscribing is to receive the issues before it hits the stores. I'm looking forward to the next couple of issues because a friend's house is to be featured soon.

I live in Edmonton and my House and Home regularly comes 2 weeks after it is on the news stands!!! Very frustrating...

I'm just south of you, in the city of Richmond, and my second issue (new subscription) arrived yesterday, March 21st. I thought that was pretty good-only 3 business days after the date indicated in last month's preview in the back of the issue. (Last month's issue was still on display over the weekend in the London Drugs and Save-on-Foods near my house-not on the stands here yet.)

Maybe you could contact the Vancouver Post Office to ask questions, even if only to find out how Richmond has faster postal service.

I hope it comes soon!

I'm in Victoria, and usually I get H&H at the same time it's on the stand. Not this month though, I'm still waiting!
