laundry room floor

We are looking for a product for the laundry room floor. The walls are a light yellow with the wall behind the washer/dryer a burnt red and we have a gingham-striped curtain hiding the furnace/water tank. I love the look of a dark cork floor but is this practical in a laundry room? Any other suggestions would be great :-)

Got this right off the website:
Cork can be sealed with a wax or polyurethane finish. The urethane adds to abrasion and scratch resistance, as well as the water and humidity resistance of the cork, which itself is an impermeable material (think of how it is used in wine bottles). Because of its acoustic and thermal properties, cork acts as a sound insulator, and is less cold on bare feet compared to ceramic or natural stone tile.

Hello!

I would have to agree, why not cork?!! It does look beautiful, and it sounds like you have spent time and effort to make your laundry room what it is now, so go all out and finish it off with nice flooring. I have seen it in kitchens and looks fab, so why not laundry? Also, it is susposed to be "soft" on the feet, which is nice if you are standing while sorting/folding clothes!

Have you looked at the new linoleum patterns they have out now - some of them are pretty cool and also practical for a wet area.
