OK

that there is a wealth of information out there, and many gracious people willing to share it. Thanks everyone! In the words of Vern Yip - "you rock!"
well seeing really is believing!! Not 1 but 2 glasses of red wine (my father managed to cause a domino effect) on my tone on tone WHITE dining room chairs since sunday...Read through this thread this morn. & gave oxy a go...I figured I had nothing left to lose- it was so bad they would have needed to be recovered anyway. Well after the red stained changed to neon green ( nearly gave myself a heart attack!) it is GONE! They are still drying, & there may be a faint water "ring" but much more livable than that red. Thanks again gals...this forum is the best thing I've come across in along time:)
I love Shout. I've been using it since my daughter was born, and I have only had one or two items that I couldn't save. I also used Liquid Tide and found it great.
by a friend that a great stain remover is "Spot Shot"...yes the stuff in the blue and orange can for carpet stains. She said it removes food grease stains like a charm and doesn't damage the fibres of the clothing. I bought a can the other day but haven't tried it yet. I figure it will come in handy somewhere down the road if not for clothing stains, likely a carpet stain.
Hi,
As odd as this is going to sound, try bilge cleaner, yes the same one you use on a boat. You can buy it at any marine supply store, sometimes you can find it at Canadian Tire as well.
Use a small amount directly on the spot and wash as normal. It gets out everything!
Beware it's smelly -- but I have found nothing works like it. Trust me, I have 3 boys under 6!!
I have good results using Ivory Liquid dishsoap to pretreat stains. Apply a good squirt to the stain, and work it in a bit with a toothbrush that is moistened with a bit of water. (a nice tool for the laundry area, and even better if you use one of those spin-brushes) I like the original Ivory the best.
For really stubborn stains I use DD7.
It's a tube(like a toothpaste tube) that I purchased at Canadian Tire some years ago. Also very good is a bar of sunlight soap. You rub the soap on the stain and then put the item in with the rest of the wash.
Another idea is to use fresh lemon on the stain. On the wet garment rub the cut side of a lemon on the stain then place the item in your regular wash.
Good luck.
I swear by the Spray-N-Wash solid stick. It comes in a tube like a glue stick & has worked wonders on my stains. Good luck!
I find that Oxi Clean works really well. My sister spilled red wine on a pale blue cotton sweater and this took the stain out completely! It is also good on dirty collars. If it is a bad stain, you can soak it first before washing. It works best if the stain is fresh...
I like liquid tide laundry soap. I have found it works the best. I just put some on the spots, and in with the wash, and the stains are usually gone!
