Lavender

I have 3 lavender plants in my garden & they are covered in blooms and look absolutely wonderful, however, they are getting really tall & a bit spindly looking.

I'm wanting to trim them down once they finish blooming. My understanding is that lavender blooms all summer long, so I guess I should wait to trim until fall? Or does anyone have any other tips?

I'd hate to cut it too soon in the year & not have blooms as long as I could have.

I believe there are different varieties of lavender. I think yours may be the French variety. Mine is Spanish...here's a pic...

I bought the wrong plants. The little blurb says it will look like a purple hedgehog when in full bloom. I thought lavender flowers were on long stems?
It really does say lavender on the label!
I am planting mine in pots - will this work? Will they grow?

I bought my lavender last June or July and it was about 8" tall. It's now about 18 - 20"! It's grown like crazy!

just wondering about your lavender: how small were they when you planted them? i just received mine via mail order and they are only a few inches tall. does lavender grow quickly or will i have to wait years before i can really enjoy it?

some lavendar. The instructions say "if they are looking a bit scraggly, to give them a good haircut in the spring". Hope that helps.
