Hi Lisi, I am new to this forum. I see compliments on your stepping stone...but am not able to find those instructions .
I would appreciate knowing where to find them...thanks,
Tweety C
Mine was from a shoot out the bottom of FIL's tree. He tended to it with love while he grew it in a pot at his place, and it died out on me. I was lazy, though, and just left it in the ground. I'm glad I did, as a new shoot popped out right beside the dead trunk of the original, along with another wee one beside it. Now I have a second chance this winter, with an option to separate the shoot and grow that one for a friend.
Have never used any tint on the concrete, I like them natural and I hope over the years they will get that weathered look. The stones came out quite easily and yes you can reuse the molds. Fig tree leaves sounds interesting, we actually got a tree this year but strangely enough it didn't survive, really unusal in our mild climate!
If you have time to make a few extra ones, you might consider a few for Christmas gifts. They're fabulous! I love the imprint of the rhubarb leaf. Have you tried the stuff that tints concrete? I only heard of it recently. I do love the natural concrete colour though.
Anyway, I just told DH how we would be spending the weekend, lol. I have a small fig tree, so I might try a couple of those leaves. I also have a tree (don't know the name) that has large off-white flowers that are shaped like big allium balls. I might try to get a starburst shape from one.
Did the stepping stones come out of the molds easily, and were they reuseable?
Thanks. I hope you'll make some too, it is not that hard. We want to make more this fall , haven't decided on the leaves yet, I find the rhubararb makes impressive imprints but maybe we'll find something else. Just make sure the molds are strong, luckily DH thought of the old broken kids water slide.
