I would like a suggestion for a new colour for the living room.
I would also like to define the dining area with either a different paint colour or perhaps wallpaper. I would love to have orange as an accent colour in both rooms, I was thinking of some cushions or perhaps painting a feature wall in the dining room. Our floors are wood throughout and the stain colour is called cinnamon.
We are also looking for a new coffee table, any suggestions on style or colour?

Looks like your main color scheme is greyish with red accents, so I would suggest painting your walls a medium grey and if you want to define your dining more you could paint a focal wall a red color to match your accessories.
As far as coffee table perhaps something lighter with more glass with black metal support.
It looks like you favour dark wood or black (except for the table by the window) How about something like this
The black base grounds the piece and matches the trim in the carpet, but the glass will help the space feel a bit more open (it look a bit narrow and could feel cramped with too much dark heavy furniture). We have it a Lofty Ambitions (http://loftyambitions.ca/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=vmj_naru.tpl&product_id=430&category_id=30&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=54)

Correct, I have not decided yet, that is why I'm reaching out. I was hoping this forum would give me some great ideas to go with and then I can actually finish my room. However, I have to agree with dustbunny, this doesn't seem to be working. I appreciate the response, but I'll move forward on my own.
I have to comment on this because I was looking at the forum and wondering why even after some folks came back, there is basically nothing going on here any more. Then I see this, yet another go ask the designer, refer to the magazine, etc. and so on which although maybe seems somewhat helpful (certainly seeing pictures and stories help), it never helps the poster actually solve thier problem.
If you saw the forums before there was so much activity, people making suggestions, mock ups, and some real creative ideas in response to posts. I think that is what made it so interesting and active here.
Perhaps even if you or Cameron or some other staffer who was up to it to get in here and really start answering questions specifically it would inspire others to post and respond and maybe, just maybe, the forum could start being what it used to be. I sure miss that community and all the ideas that flowed. I bet a comparison of posts per day between now and before the forum redesign/screw up that blew everyone away would be eye opening. Old members did come back to check in but nothing going on means we just fade away again and that is a real shame because this was one of the best design forums around.
Personally I can't imagine the disappointment of posting a question and pictures now only to be told to ask somewhere else. What is this forum supposed to be about, helping people and creating something like we had before or is it simply a referral service to other parts of House & Home?
How about some shade of brown (chocolate or taupes depending on the colour of your floor)? That would work with your furniture and if you used different shades you could get that definition between the rooms you want. It would also go with that orange you want to add.
Does that mean you have still not decided and why you are asking again?
Thank you for your suggestion however, I did submit this question some months ago.
The colour is mostly blue but there is some green in it. I didn't really want either of those colours, but something more neutral.
Hello Sharon,
This would be a great question for our Ask A Designer column. Contact Cameron MacNeil via our Ask A Designer page:

Good luck with the living/dining room!

What colours are in your sofa? I can't tell if they are blue or greenish or maybe something else. Sometimes taking an existing colour out of something in the room can help pick wall colours.
