living room helpliving room helpBeautiful new dark hardwoods, paint Benjamin Moore Ranchwood and 4" white baseboards.  Only love the black and white chair.  Hubby says he'll recover the dusty rose chairs, yikes.  I would like a total redo?  I would appreciate any ideas, I'm at a loss where to start...was thinking black leather couch to start....

I would try changing the wall colour first, since it looks like too mono-tone at the moment with your dark wood floor, perhaps something brighter and more neutral.  Perhaps trying out different rugs as well to provide some contrast (maybe draw your inspirations from the wall painting if that's the theme you're going for ?)

Thanks Lofty, those are really good ideas, never thought of that artwork being too small but you are right.  The wood on the pink chairs is wierd too, they need to go!!  Costco has really nice 8x10 shag rugs in cream/white.  I think that would brighten the floor too.  Thanks again, love your light pictures! wow beautiful.  thanks again, really appreciate your comments

I like the black and white chair as well. A nice black leather sofa would be great. I really like the shape of your cofee/side table - maybe they could be refinished to match the floors, or painted a glossy white to build on a black & white theme. You could recover the dusty rose chair , but you'd also have to do something about the wood. The area rug should be replaced with a brighter colour - it could be solid or it could be black/white with some bright pops of colour withing it. I would get something larger too - it's a bit lost in the space. It should meet/be under the front legs of each furniutre piece in the area to ground the space. I also think the scale of the art work above the sofa is too small - you could do 1 larger print, or maybe 2 pieces above the sofa/side table. I like the chrome vase, and the style of the little light beside it. I think a new floor lamp would be nice - there's not a lot of space there so maybe something slim with a full height shade. Those are just my suggestions. I'll include a few picture of possible pieces.CortinaCortina EliseEliseSolis SuspendSolis Suspend                          http://loftyambitions.ca/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_details&flypage=vmj_naru.tpl&category_id=67&product_id=148&Itemid=54http://loftyambitions.ca/index.php?http://loftyambitions.ca/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_details&flypage=vmj_naru.tpl&category_id=67&product_id=149&Itemid=54http://loftyambitions.ca/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_details&flypage=vmj_naru.tpl&category_id=69&product_id=180&Itemid=54
