Our living room is 13'wide and 17'long. On one end of the living room is our front door and a little entrance way 5x9 to the left of the entrance door.  Then on the opposite side of the living room we have a 6.5ft opening into our kitchen.  We have two windows in our living room, one on the same wall as the front door that is 3' wide and 23" from the floor.  The other window is 7' wide and 21" from the floor. (west wall has front door and 3' window - door on the north west corner of room, window is more south, the north wall of the room is just a wall [with the 5' open area right by the front door], the south wall has the 7' window in it 2' from the west wall, and the east wall has the opening to the kitchen [the opening is connects right to the south wall]) The living room will host the TV though i dont want the TV to be the focal point of the room... The room would have a seating area and the TV and those would be the essentials.  Some accessories of course too... I would like to get a new couch - i was thinking a sectional or L shaped something... but am up for suggestions. Basically we would like all new furniture, so it would be great to have a new idea from you. also, i was thinking of painting the room purple and grey and i am wondering if i should paint the 2 opposite walls purple - i am under the impression that usually it makes sense to only paint 1 wall a different colour to make that wall the focal point, but when you look in the room from the entrance way you see the one wall, and when you look in the room from the kitchen you see the opposite wall... so not sure what to do. We would like to make sure that there is a nice flow through the room so that you can get from the entrance to the kitchen without too much of a challenge.

Thing to remember when designing your living area is that you have to be comfortable in the room and like the style since you will most likely be spending a lot of your time in the room.
