with some towels.......I have a wedding shower to go to and I remembered one time someone on this board had posted a picture of towels made up like a wedding cake and oh well, I borrowed the idea and made one to give to the bride at the shower

Now that I cooled off, they probably did me a favour by not inviting me to the wedding, since I would have to purchase dresses and shoes for both daughters, a new dress for myself and something for my husband to put on his feet since his dress pants don't go with workboots.

But I don think it was just a gift grab, and I gave far to much. Anyway a nother lesson learned.

That's so rude, to be invited to a shower and not the wedding  If you ask me, it's s total gift grab -- you're not important enough for the bride & groom to invite you to the wedding (after all, you'll add to the expense for the dinner), but they'll suck a gift out of you at the shower :hairpull:

Sorry if I've offended anyone, but I went through organizing a shower 5 years ago where the groom-to-be kept sending me more and more names of people to add to the shower list, even though they weren't invited to the wedding. He said they would be insulted if they weren't invited to the shower. And they wouldn't be insulted for not being invited to the wedding?? Meanwhile, who's paying for the shower?? Not the bride and groom....

Anyway, good to hear that your gift was a hit, luvto :)

poorgirl, sorry to hear you couldn't put the towels together but I can understand your frustration because I did mine a couple of times before I got it right and was afraid that by the time I finished the whole thing it would look like it went through the wringer.

Can't understand how you're invited to the shower and not the wedding

thank you so much, I am going home tonight to make one for the wedding shower I am going to on Sunday.
What a great idea.

So off I go to buy the towels, Spend most of the day Saturday trying to put this together, I couldn't get right (big surprise). Went to look at the ribbon, and everything else to put on it , I was up another 25.00 just in ribbon and accessories. Got so frustrated, ended up just wrapping them up with a set of sheets.

And by the way I am not invited to the wedding. How does that work? Shower gift but no wedding invite. Hummmmm

I have to tell you that I just came from an awesome bridal shower and everyone loved the towel display. We had a salsa dancer/teacher......loads and loads of fun.

great idea!!....well I kinda did something neat today...my daughter is the flower girl for the upcoming wedding I mentioned...and we were looking everywhere for ivory shoes....in the end I could only find white ballerina slippers so I went to Michaels...and bought Ivory spray paint for fabric...and applied them to the leather slippers....it worked like a charm and now I will hot glue an ivory rosette to the front and they will look as good as store bought .....not bad for under $25 bucks...she can always wear them later for dress up!!!

I forgot to say that I've placed the gift on 2 pizza pans covered with a nice paper lace doily and then wrapped the whole thing in a clear plastic tied with a blue ribbon at the top. You can modify the bottom part for something else, maybe a nice silver tray for a much more elegant gift if nothing else is given besides the towel gift....I'm sure some people will come up with many different ideas....

trynto.....thanks......I got luxury hotel towels, 2 sets of each, bath, hand and washcloth. First you fold the bath towels in half and then folded again and start rolling, do the second one the same and roll it over the other one, overlapping the first one a bit to catch....secure with 2 piecees of ribbon....repeat same with the rest of the towels and place of top of the first "cake layer"......decorate with fake flowers or whatever you might want to put on it, you can also tuck in some kitchen utensils or other small stuff.

I also have another gift for her besides the towels.....will let you know how well it's liked this Saturday
