I was looking at Lynda's kitchen. Does she have polished marble on the island? I can't find the information anywhere.
Once the quartz people make a really good duplicate of calcutta marble (the one with the gorgeous long grey veins) they are going to rake up!
From everything I've read it is important to go with honed marble but that polished marble looks awesome!

I'm pretty sure her countertops are Carrara marble. It makes an excellent surface for pastry making but not very practical for everyday countertop use because they stain so easily. I know many countertop places won't even warranty marble countertops in kitchens.
