I basically reinvented a spot that is in my ugly laundry room, which I outed previously in a personal worst thread. There has never been a good spot for the kids to park their backpacks in this house, as our entrance closet is tiny.
The spot I chose originally had a strip of wood with mop/broom grips in a row, which is partially hidden by the ironing board in the first picture... taken shortly after we moved in. I removed that board and repositioned it, and added another below. I purchased two simple hooks, filled old holes, and painted the whole thing in decorator white semi-gloss. I never did use that spot for brooms/mops as there is a broom closet elsewhere for that. Finally I can get after the kids to put their backpacks away! :D
