I have just finshed watching the Marion Jones interview with Oprah .......I feel so bad for her ....(when you see all the criminals who get away with murder)....she is a very strong person to have gone through the shame of lying to protect everyone around her......she really is a sweetheart:)

I believe that many people are choosing the illegal way of doing things but just because they are famous does not mean that they should be treated any differently than you or me. Martha was found guilty because she did something wrong. Marion Jones also did something wrong and was also punished. I feel no sympathy for either person. Just because others are committing these frauds and are not caught will never make it right in my opinion.

I understand what you are saying girls but everyone makes wrong judgements in life .I guess I am too gullable ....I do feel bad for the other athletes who had to revoke their medals....It is too bad there has to be corruption in every walk of life:mad: especially sports....I think you are right Donna they are used as pawns.

that Oprah would have her on and make sure that she is the absolute first person to interview Marion. And for Marion what an opportunity to plead her case to the public.
I think that often these people are pawns in a larger picture of deception. Steriod use is rampant and she was selected and brought down as an example. Look at what happened to Martha Stewart, again a big name brought down in public for all to see. I do not think I can name too many names of the big boys on Wall Street that brought the entire economy down this month.
I feel sorry for these people that become the pawns as we never seem to hear about all the others. I wonder what is going to happen in the sport of baseball?

I am with you Nancyj I feel for the other that lost their medals because she cheated and I also feel bad for the ones that didn't get to hear their National Anthem played at the Olympics. Getting the medal later just wouldn't be the same and the sponsors are already moved on to another person and you lost out. I remember when Becky Scott finally got her gold medal in CC skiing and it just wasn't the same. Why would Opera have her on and try to get people to feel sorry for her she is no different than anyone else that cheated and got caught.

I have not ounce of pity for Marion Jones. The benefits and cash of the tainted Olympic gold medal are still hers - regardless of her loss of that gold medal and her time in jail.

I do have sympathy for her relay teammates, who had to give up their medals.

if she actually knew. I think she had to know. World class athletes are not that naive. Unfortunately they also know how it works in other countries.

It's a shame but she lied and cheated...knowingly...unknowingly(?)

I did see the interview and still cannot condone the lies.

but the whole issue of steroids etc. in sports really needs to be dealt with world wide. Watching the Olympics this past summer really made me question how honest other countries are about the age of their athletes and of course, drug use.
