Matte walls, what sheen for trim?

I love matte walls. Just wondering what sheen you use for your trim? Baseboards, crown, doors? Going black on the doors so not sure if I should use the same sheen as the baseboards and crown. This always stumps me.

I also think a satin finish will work better. For all the reasons tangotori mentions. But also I think a semi gloss will really stand out against a matte finish. The satin will give you the duribility you need for trim and still be and be a little more subtle than semi.

I think that with matte walls you should opt for a Satin finish (sheen = between eggshell & semi-gloss)... particularly for your black doors. The primary reason people use semi-gloss paint is for durability and because it's easy to wipe/clean. Technology in paints has improved so much that now you can get a Satin sheen paint that is just as durable and washable. This is especially true for Benajamin Moore's new Aura line.

Good luck!

Yes, it would even better to judge what exactly does it apply for.

I usually go with semi-gloss, as it's usually a little harder surface that is more duarable.  Hope that helps.
