I also think a satin finish will work better. For all the reasons tangotori mentions. But also I think a semi gloss will really stand out against a matte finish. The satin will give you the duribility you need for trim and still be and be a little more subtle than semi.
I think that with matte walls you should opt for a Satin finish (sheen = between eggshell & semi-gloss)... particularly for your black doors. The primary reason people use semi-gloss paint is for durability and because it's easy to wipe/clean. Technology in paints has improved so much that now you can get a Satin sheen paint that is just as durable and washable. This is especially true for Benajamin Moore's new Aura line.

Semi gloss
I usually go with semi-gloss, as it's usually a little harder surface that is more duarable. Hope that helps.
