Am sure the same people that bought the SMART car, will be queuing up for one of these when the time comes?

Smoodgie - Can you tell me a bit more about how a smart car runs and its limitations...I'm not too familiar with it. Thanks in advance.

Well, so far, I haven't come across any limitations, other than what you can fit into it!! It's been running great all winter. Mind you, we keep it in the garage at home and we haven't had any really freezing cold days so far this winter. It does have a block heater, so it can be plugged in when then the temps drop significantly. But so far, no trouble starting it :)

I've driven it in snowstorms and freezing rain with no problems at all. It does bottom out a bit in deep snow, but that would happen with any car. It's fine on icy roads -- of course, we have winter tires on it, but it's still impressive how well it sticks to the road. I can start from 0 at the bottom of an icy hill and get up it no problem -- no sliding or spinning tires.

It drives great on the highway. Max speed is 135km/h, but I usually do about 120km/h on the highway, so that's fine with me :) It's surprisingly smooth and not too loud. It doesn't have the most aerodynamic design, so you hear more wind noise than in other cars, but it's not unbearably noisy.

Although it's small, it's a very safe care to drive. It has ABS, ESP (an electronic stability system), air bags, tridion safety cell, and even the seats are designed to protect the passengers in an accident. The engine is in the back, and is designed to drop if you get hit.

The one negative is that right now, diesel is about 10 cents/litre more than regular gas in our area. From what I understand, it's typical for diesel to cost more in the winter. I have no idea why!! But it's still cheap to fill up -- of course, that's due in part to the small tank. It's 22 litres -- I still don't have an accurate estimate as to the mileage we're getting, because we only got our car in October so we've been driving it in mostly colder conditions, which can affect the mileage. But we're doing +300kms on a tank, which is a lot better than the mileage we get with our EL.

Whew!! That's probably more than you wanted to know!! I really love our smart, and I'm having so much fun driving it :)

Is it just me, or does anybody else see a face on the front of that MB concept car? It looks like it has an eye (headlight), a nose (MB emblem), a mouth (grille), and the fender is a chubby cheek!! The shape reminds me of a bike helmet.

The fortwo is DEFINITELY better looking :) But this one has an odd sort of appeal to it.

I see the face now...LOL...it really does look like a cute car.

Well, the shape IS kind of funny. Sort of like a jelly bean :) But it really is a great little car. As long as you realize and accept its limitations -- there's a reason why it's called a fortwo :) Although we can fit the two of us and one dog in it, so it's more like fortwo-and-a-half ;)

Here's a pic of our little smartie....

Oh no, I can't believe you said that!!!!! smarts are adorable -- and I'm especially fond of the blue & silver one that we have!!!! OK, I admit, it's probably a love it or hate it kind of car -- personally, I think it's cute, not to mention that it's a blast to drive and is a little tank in the snow. It's got so many unique features -- glass roof, steering wheel paddles, clutchless shifting that switches over to fully automatic at the press of a button, peanut-shaped headlight.... :) And the heated seats go all the way up your back -- heavenly in the winter!!

Not to mention that the most I've spent to fill it up so far is $17 -- who else can say that they can fill up their car for less than 20 bucks?!

All I can say about that is That is one ugly car. I don't care if it runs on air alone I would be caught dead in something that looks like that. Of course this is just my opinion. ;)

You watch that too, with our Natasha and what's his face? ;) I think they are trying to steal some ideas from the Toyota hybrid cars?
