I do have bone and blood meal mixture I got from wal-mart, it helped start my bulbs up indoors before spring, but the smell is something else.
I have used Miracle Grow in the past and found it really encourages the plants to grow......but they overgrow causing them to become mature too soon then die off before their time.....a renowned gardener told me a couple of yrs. ago not to use Miracle Grow for that reason...he said to use only bone meal..I have been using bonemeal the past couple of yrs, & find my plants do fine with the bone meal.....the only trouble is "Gizmo" our Shih-Tzu loves to eat it. :)
I usually use the 50-50-50 mix when I first put annuals in the ground, then switch to 20-20 or something similar. I do notice the difference. Container plants usually need something every couple of weeks but I do all the beds in a weaker solution.
I have tried it and find no difference in it and the others.
Just my humble opinion though.
I have not tried enough others to say it is the best but I am happy with how it works for me. I use it both on flowers and veggies.
I don't know if it is the best but I use it once a week on my flowers. It helps.
