I had a big mirror in the powder room which had a white marble look frame and had it replaced by another mirror in a black frame. In the meantime I stored this big mirror and today I took it out, sanded the frame and gave it a coat of black paint. When it dries, it will get a second coat and I will be putting it on top of the mantle to replace a picture I have there. I need the picture to hang in my living room.
Someone had suggested that I put a mirror on my mantle and until now I had that thought put at rest, but I think I'm going to like it there.

thanks Janet....that mirror has bevelled glass and it was expensive and it would have been a shame to store it in the basement....at first DH didn't like it on the mantle and now he's getting used to it especially when I told him that it reflects his handwork of the crown moulding.
We are still waiting for our windows to be done and as soon as he installs the window there I'll be looking for panels for that window.
you did an awesome job on your mirror....its a great feeling when you can refurbish and reuse a piece :applaud: love your fireplace and the pieces you have on top

Here's a picture of the mirror.
Thanks....mirror replaced picture....looks good to me...as soon as I can take a picture I'll post it.
Your mantle has the right proportions. I think that has been the toughest things to get "just right".
A mirror on yours will be a nice change.

I don't have a picture of the mirror yet, when it's done and I get access to a digital camera, I'll post a picture. However, you can see the fireplace mantle on this forum.
Hey Luv, sounds like you're on the same track as I am. I am trying to re-orient my FP mantle, too. Show some pics for inspiration!
