I have a large upstairs hall that is shared with 4 bedrooms and a bath. I would like to know if using beadboard in the bathroom and raised panel wainscoting in the hall would be a faux pas? Should the paneling be the same in both rooms? or could they be tied together with the same paint colour? Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

I recommend tieing them together, color-wise, whenever possible. Too much mixing and matching can alter the overall feel and "wholeness" of your home, making it look like a few different decors thrown together rather than one unified house with one unified vision.
Hello ezrockradim,
I don't think beadboard in the bathroom and wainscotting in the hall would conflict ... they're separate rooms, so they can have different styles. But yes, painting them the same colour or similar shades would tie the rooms together. This would be a great question for our Ask A Designer column. Contact Cameron MacNeil through this page:

Good luck!

Why is it that you are considering having them different. Cost wise making them the same would save money, but maybe it's the look you are after?
Some people put wallpaper in one room and none in others. Beadboard in the bathroom and painted white would look good. The hall being different - see wallpaper. Who cares, but making them both white would be good and lessens the impact of the differences.
