Modern/colorful curtains for master bedroom

Hey everyone!I would like to replace the chocolate brown silk-looking curtains I currently have, with something that is more vibrant. (Unless some of you can convince me that a solid color is more suitable for my space!) :p Inspiration could be the 2 pillows on my bed. I love how they mix fuchsia, light pink, orange, brown... but I'm at lost as to what type of pattern/fabric could complement them – and where I could find ready-made panels with these characteristics! I have solar blinds behind the curtains, but I want the panels to help block the sun of these windows, which are facing East. The walls are BM Stone Harbor (if I remember correctly). In some light, it looks greenish, but I was aiming for a medium grey, with no green/blue etc. undertone. Oh well. The area rug is cream and light brown, and eventually, I'd love to have a womb chair in a bright yellow, where the temporary chair is located. Thanks in advance for your ideas! :)LiliImageImage ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Maybe these ideas will trigger more opinions... :) (Sorry for the very amateur mockups...)http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/10/14/288434/Presentation2.013.jpghttp://www.fileden.com/files/2006/10/14/288434/Presentation2.014.jpghttp://www.fileden.com/files/2006/10/14/288434/Presentation2.018.jpghttp://www.fileden.com/files/2006/10/14/288434/Presentation2.019.jpghttp://www.fileden.com/files/2006/10/14/288434/Presentation1.017.jpghttp://www.fileden.com/files/2006/10/14/288434/Presentation2.016.jpg

Thank you for your comment Gwen! Now I'm more confused than ever. :) Had not thought of a dark grey colour for the drapes. What concerns me with that option is my rug - which is not going anywhere - and is a beige/light brown colour mix. Thus, I feel in need some brown elsewhere in my room to tie things together.

Thanks again Mrs. Peacock for your advice!I find it so difficult to imagine the end result of having patterned curtains. But I'd like to add an element of visual interest to my room...

Hello Lili,

Because your pillows are so bright, I would stick to a solid colour for the drapes. Have you considered a darker shade of the grey that is on your walls?

A great starting point is West Elm: http://www.westelm.com/. They have a beautiful selection of ready-made drapery panels.

Good luck!

Thanks Mrs. Peacock! :) Your input is much appreciated! And I agree. Another pop of color is needed. I already have solar roller blinds behind the curtains so they will stay for now.I would like to go with a graphic pattern, but I just started adding and mixing patterns in my house, through throw pillows. So you can imagine how intimidated I am about patterned curtains! :p I love damask, ikat, birds silhouette...Ideas:http://www.etsy.com/listing/72269030/pair-of-curtains-drapery-panels-unlined?ref=sr_list_21&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=damask+curtain&ga_page=2&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmadehttp://www.etsy.com/listing/60945104/premier-designer-bird-silhouette-curtainWish I could find these patterns in a mix of fuchsia, brown, orange... But I do like yellow. Hence why I'm thinking of buying a yellow womb chair evetually. The nightable on the left is small and low, so I thought a bigger lamp would, 1., take up all the surface of the table, and 2., be overpowering. Just my impression though. But the more I look at my pictures, the more I see your point. I initially wanted a Kartel Bourgie lamp. Maybe the scale would have been better. The price-point, not so much. :) I may add another lamp on the right night stand at some point, but I may look for a different lamp. Trying not to be too matchy-matchy. ;)
