Okay, after 4 days I am starting to see a pattern and maybe you can tell me if I need to get really concerned.
It's bumblebees, orange belted bumblebees if the Internet is right. Very fuzzy and colourful bees. Friday it was a dead one laying on my porch step (inside), no biggie, I picked it up and threw it out. Sat and and Sun it was hearing one (each day) banging against windows (inside) and swatting to have them meet their end. Today another one laying legs up in the porch. These things are really big, by my bee standards (of course they may seem magnified being inside my house and all) measuring about an inch (which could mean queen sized according to what I've been reading). I'm not actually afraid of them (I'll take bees over mice any day) but after having my last dog require emergency care after a sting I am concerned Ebony will go after one.
Last year I had a few yellow jackets or wasps come in my porch but there was also a broken window which has been fixed. I knew how they got in because I saw them do it. All my windows have either been fixed or replaced so that shouldn't be a way in. All holes (that I could find) were plugged last fall when the mice were a problem and since then I don't leave doors flung open even when letting Ebony out. Besides I figure they would have to be waiting by the door or something to get one a day every day for the past 4 days.
So, do you think there could be a hive in my house somewhere  ? Any ideas of where I would look or what I would look for? You hear of hives in the walls of some houses but I can't imagine how they would get in the living area unless maybe it's in the basement somewhere (I still have a lot of boxes around).
Anyone have any ideas about these bees?
