i was all done with furniture arranging, until today, when i needed to take up area rug and remove gravel :hairpull: so of course it just made things easier to move.....so dd whipped the sofa around....this is what Mrs Fancy suggested only backwards.....i cant have the sofa in front of the window, it makes it hard to get to the latches....so same thing but reversed and the tv has to stay in the nook as i need to see it from my chair...........now im stuck.....what do i need to put where and things need adjusting...........sorry for more pictures and excuse the mess in the rooms, everything is just sort of thrown around.....hopefully this passes dh's test, he isnt home ;) im posting different shots so you can get the idea....and the sofa isnt as shoved against the wall as it appears.....the one picture will also show you the space when coming from the kitchen....at least 4 1/2 feet to walk through....im really excited if this works out....thanks bunches again

Ya I was in HomeSense today and Winners and looking for those prints, no such luck....Yes I have been on art.com..they have quite a few that I like....I find them rather pricey once you add in the cost of frame, matt and shipping. So if I cant find the whole picture in a store, think I will just buy the print and have it framed at a local framing store. Think I'll take a peek at the other one you mentioned....Thanks :)
oh my gawd...........you are too funny :biglol: :biglol:
The secret is to talk to the plant first. Tell them to just suck it up and know they're going to good home. And run like h**** to the car. That snow will be over in a couple of days - take a chance.
jan i have been seeing lots of nice floor plants.....but i wasnt sure if buying them this time of year and taking them out in the cold to the car would kill them.

All the stores have big green plants in stock - for cheap too.
HD, Wal-Mart, SuperStore. Sure there are more. Check them out. If they don't last long, oh well. Maybe your new house is the lucky charm for them. They say that plants absorb bad things in the air.
The ones at my HD were $10 and about 7' high.
you little smarty pants.............the original one....you know the one when we moved in here :biglol:

aww bigmama....im sorry to hear you were not well....i hope you are doing much better now.......see, never get sick......you just dont know what i might be up to :D
oh trynto........close your eyes and dont read............im alright with my layout, but im getting really tired of too many dark peices in the room....im planning those ideas in my head............my favorite peice is the butlers table even though its dark......but im just want a lighter look, the table beside my chair is heavy looking, the ottomon is heavy looking.......im physically out of commision and thats not a good thing.....it gives me too much time to ....think

shhh....guys...guys.....it keeps her busy for a few days..... :biglol: ..snow day here in ontario...so why not do some furniture arranging........ :biglol:
What the heck is going on here?? ;) I have been sick for days( bad reaction to meds) and the first thing I see is you changing your living room   *just teasing*
Janet I think your room was just fine the way it was and I have to agree with luvtodecorate. :D
See Janet, this is why I had suggested for a longer wall (the TV wall) and removal of the little one by the stairway,
Anyway, I still like the old version of your layout, so please keep it and reserve your energy for something else ;)
Dustbunny for doing the layout.....dh is home, so one never knows......they only problem i may have is my back to the entrance, my back to a doorway can give me an uneasy feeling........trynto, that is my thoughts, im always game for trying....because you just never know what will work......
if i try another layout.....i will post on here :D

to be honest...I actually was thinking the same layout as DBD....but didn't bother posting thinking you were too exhausted....... :D .( what a fool I was.... :biglol: )..for me ....I move my room around every which way until if feels right....nothing wrong with what you have been doing Janet....I did that on a monthly basis in my old house..... :D ....better to try....than not to try at all..................GOOD LUCK...
What about a screen to visually extend that wall, and hide the back of the sofa?
Nope......I think it is rather unwelcoming to walk into the back of a sofa. Having the sofa like that puts a barricade between your hall (where you hope to welcome your guests) and the living room. Also it looks like "your" chair will block access to the sofa, and "crash" into the ottoman when it is in the reclining mode. There...my 2 cents...again :-)
ooh, I like this layout. Janet are you up to moving your furniture?
I know, I know, you said you are done....I didn't have a chance to throw my 2 cents worth in so I thought I would try this for you to see if it would fit.
Also, just thinking, if they are still available, what about getting some more curtain panels and taking them to the corners?
Welcome back M&Js mom.
well thank you Devine Design.....im waiting to get my hands on that bridge picture..........Homesense had a small one that would have been perfect above my tv, but it was damaged......
have you ever ordered from allposters.com or art.com

Janet.....I absolutely love those pictures in your living room. I was looking at some on art.com...just love them.
And I really like your living room since you changed it back. :) My suggestion may be to add a floor plant. Lookin good :clapping:
thank you very much for your nice compliments.....yes the lamp does look like its up against the wall as well as off centred :D it has been moved since the picture..... my energy is in my brain but its my poor children and dh that does the shuffling around....but one of the girls told me today......"mom, it is staying this way, NO MORE MOVING" :D and it is so true, a room can look fantastic but it just has to feel good too, it seems to feel good for everyone so i guess that means i have done something right.
Welcome aboard M&J's mom :)

oh yes sweetpea, im working on the plant thing....i do have one just like your big one and i have no shame in saying that i own a fake plant  easy to keep alive! I showed dh the pictures of the new layout....of course i was out voted for tv viewing.....they like it as shown in the last pic, which is the original way
flowerpot............you are so right....who cares if they are passe....as long as i like it, that is what matters .........heck if we changed everytime the trends changed we would have to re do our homes every 2 months :D
tangotori......thank you.....i liked Mrs Fancy's idea but just doesnt work with my furniture or my family
Mrs Fancy, please dont be sorry...it was about 95% good.......one day i will have what i refer to as the conversation layout that you suggested.....i liked your idea and Mags was correct in saying that it made the room look more square.....i was also surprised, as i figured it may shrink the room and it didnt....thank you for your suggestion, one never knows the future in furniture moving :D

Sorry, Janet, you didn't like the new layout. But hey, now you know for sure (maybe) what works for you. Thanks for trying though:)!
The room looks really nice now janet.
Now who cares if ladder plant stands are in or out.
If you like them go for it :clapping:
Personally I think They can add a lot to a room.
Fake plants are not my favorite but I do have some in places where
real ones would not grow.
Home Sense has some beautiful ones.
Are you off tomorrow on your shopping jaunt?
now we can both sleep tonite :D
Flowerpot.
l
Sweetpea... I can't keep a plant alive!! I've been meaning to get a good quality fake plant or two, but then go and buy something real because it's... well... real! And then it dies, too. I'm sooooo glad to see that you have life-like (i.e., "fake"!) plants... I'm going to get some!!!
Janet... I agree with everyone else... the sofa looks best on the long wall. For some reason I only noticed this in your most recent picture, but I feel that the lamp beside the sofa is too small for the space. I think it's the base that's the problem for me... and it could also be a bit taller. I feel like you need something with a little more "presence" - something that make a bit of a statement. These are just my opinions... take them or leave them (really!).
Good luck!
Victoria
my fake plants
MY FAKE PLANTS :biglol:
Hi Janet; I like the room in your last post ,The sofa is best on the long wall, and the chair looks very good where it is ,I find it squares the room off .Don't forget the tall green plant or tree : I'm going to keep bugging you  .I have posted pictures of all my fake plants my  .I know alot of people don't like fake plants but I find they add warmth to a room.
Thank you I will go and see.
i bought my pictures at winners.....im really enjoying the sephia and black and white photography.....there is many more that i like....one of my favorites being a bridge.....these ones are from allposters.com they have a hugh selection
