For my DIY'er friends...Knock Off Wood

Hi there,

It's been a while since I've been on the forums. Ever since the changeover, I have been busy, but I wanted to touch base with those of you that still visit these forums.

With spring around the corner, I've been back to planning. Last year, I tackled our kitchen cabinetry, painting it out. I've still got to get the crown moulding that I want and I will have to repaint my bottom cabinet again. But that's a whole other story.

Recently, one of my very creative aunts found a blog called "Knock Off Wood" and I have to tell you that it is one of the more fun blogs I've ever visited. Ana builds her own furniture, inspired by big ticket items. She posts her building plans for free which I think is very generous in itself.

If you're up to making your own furniture (Pottery Barn, West Elm and Land of Nod inspired), you'll love this blog:

I think one of my summer projects will be to make my own queen sized bed inspired by the blog owner's design. I also hope to build my own harvest dining table too.

Anyway, I wanted to share Ana's blog because I know there will be few of you inspired by her designs. I believe she is working on a DIY book, too, and I wouldn't be surprised to see her eventually have her own show on TLC or HGTV. She's amazing!

One of my hopes is to do some wood working someday.  I don't have a small electric saw in the house, though and wonder if there is one that I could purchase that is fairly small in size for smaller wood projects - bird houses, doll houses.  Any ideas?
