After 3 hrs sleep, I get to drive 8 hrs north to attend a day and a half of meetings, then turn around and drive 8 hrs back. Oh, and there's a mandatory "team building" night thrown in there too - but since it's such a small town there's nowhere to do any sort of team building activity so we're spending the evening in the place we're having the meeting and just hanging out. Fun, eh?

It didn't turn out as bad as I thought it would be - "team building" ended up being poker night. I'm a pretty crappy player, so didn't exactly clean up though. The worst part was having to drive more than 1200km in 3 days....but due to the size of the airports, it would've actually taken longer to fly than drive.
I hate those team building things!!!! We recently had one for the department that I work in and I found it a complete waste of time and money. For the most part I don't like the people in my dept and don't want to build a team with them - just do my job and go home at the end of the day. I find that they don't really help with the disfunction in the office - I feel your pain.
i'm not a fan of the out of town 'team building' scenarios. it can be fun to get together with fellow staff outside of work...but i'd much rather it on my terms, when i can pop in and out at my desire. but to have to be there is not always pleasant....but hey, it's a night away enjoy it....someone else is picking up the tab :D
