She made her appearance into this world at 22:59 (Atlantic time). I called the hospital to see how my DD was doing and was put through to the labour room, my granddaughter was only a minute old when I got the news... :D I don't have much more on the details as they hadn't weighed her yet and so far we have a first name but I don't know what they decided on for a middle name...lol
I'm so excited and too charged to go to sleep right now!

I'm thrilled for you bbyrne! Are you Nana or Grandma? I was just wondering the other day if you're new grandchild had arrived. I'm so glad that your DD and baby Annika are doing well. You must be itching to meet her and smell that awesome new baby scent. If you and DD have cameras on your PC's you can video conferance, so you can see her sooner than Dec. 26th.

I think the birth of a baby is the most beautiful gift of all...not just for parents, but for the entire family. It's good to hear that Mom and Baby are doing well. I'm sure you'll have a great time when you go visit. Have a safe trip and enjoy every moment with both your grandchildren.

There is nothing to compare to the feeling you get after one of your own children has children of their own. I think it is the most wonderful thing to happen to us. People by choice chooose to be without children for various reasons, but you know when you see your grandchildren it makes all the child rearing years so worth it :) Awesome!!!

Congratulations! My son and wife had our first grandchild this summer too - a girl. Both sets of grandparents were there and when my son appeared at the waiting room with a little girl in his arms - I literally burst into tears. It was a high risk delivery and we were all so worried. Even my son had tears in his eyes. She'll be 5 months at Christmas and my son phoned the other day so I could listen to her squeals of delight as she bounced in her jolly jumper. Can't wait to see them on the holidays. There really isn't anything that can compare to seeing your children have children of their own...what a wonderful Christmas gift for all your family.

both her and the baby are doing fine...the baby weighed in at 7 lbs, 12 oz and has a head of long black hair...baby is feeding fine...still no middle names yet... lol I can't wait to see her.

They picked Annika for her name. (I'm not sure how they have decided to spell it though - will have to wait until I can speak to my DD in the morning).
Foxxy, this is grandchild number 2, we have been blessed with the most awesome grandson who is 2 1/2 and is just a darling. As for a middle name, the DD and I have thrown so many names back and forth, I've lost track of which ones I liked...lol
