janmac, that's the perfect word to describe her, treasure :)

I'm extremely fortunate to be able to own a horse. It's been a dream my whole life to have a horse of my own. And to make it all even better, my hubby is being SO supportive and helpful and encouraging :) I'm very, very lucky :)

Now I'm off to the farm :)

I think I could probably do just about anything with Rosa and she'd just stand there and let me do it!! You're right, she's a great horse, especially for a newbie owner like me :D

So far, she's alone in her pasture. The owner of the stable where she used to live said that she thinks Rosa actually prefers being the only horse -- she used to get picked on a bit when she was with other horses. We'll see what happens... if she seems to be getting lonely, I'll look into getting a friend for her, maybe from a horse rescue program. I have this thing for wanting to save unwanted animals :)

It sounds like you made a very good decision when you decided to buy her. Her temper sounds wonderful. With my old horse I could sit underneath her belly and she wouldn't even try to move. You'll have lots of fun together.
Does she have any buddies in the stable or is it just her?

....she IS quite beautiful, isn't she?! :) And she has a wonderful personality -- very calm and relaxed and friendly. And so easy to work around -- I can leave her totally loose while I brush her and pick out her hooves, and she doesn't even move!! That's thanks to how she was trained and treated by her previous owner, I'm sure!!

newfie, I did try riding her yesterday -- it was fantastic!! It was the first time I ever rode a horse by myself, without an instructor or other horses around to follow. She listened so well and did everything I asked her to do. Well, except for when I took her out of the pasture and down the long driveway -- she kept wanting to go towards the road and I wanted her to go back to the pasture. It took some time and patience, but eventually, I got her to turn around and go where I wanted her to go :)

Elise, does the Zehr's deli lady look like a horse?! ;)

Rosa could look lovely in a living room, but she would provide some extra decoration that might not be too appealing!!

I haven't taken her for a ride yet -- I want us to get to know each other better and be really comfortable with each other first. I've never ridden alone before, so I'm a bit nervous about ventuiring out on my own.

AAN, don't be envious!! Up until a month ago, I never thought I would ever actaully own a horse. Now I do!! The same could happen for you :) Besides, I'm so broke paying for horse things, I don't have any money left for decorating our house. I have to avoid all the home decor stores so I don't get interior design envy.....

Rosa will be getting lots of hugs an oats tonight!!

She would blend in very nicely in my livingroom. She's a beautiful colour, very classic and sleek looking. She can very well be a decorative accent.
Hmmmmm kind of reminds me of the lady who works at the deli at Zehers!!!

I think I'm suffering fron separation anxiety -- I had to come back to work today, and I miss my horse already!! :(

Her name is Rosa and she's 8 years old. She's 3/4 thoroughbred and 1/4 Perchercon. DecorGuy, I'd say she's more of a Shiny Copper Penny ;) It's amazing how her coat glows in the light at sunset -- just an astounding colour!!

She arrived on Monday, and I think we've already bonded -- she comes to me and follows me like a little puppy!! It's so cute!! :D She took a big roll in the grass on Monday, which is a sign that a horse feels content and happy and safe. So I think she's satisfied with her new home :)

I haven't heard her talk yet, but I'll keep you posted ;)

I can't wait till I finish work today so I can go back and see her!!
