Try going on www.pets.ca, they have vets and really good advise on there. I find it really helpful with our dog. Could be an urinary tract infection which is common with them after surgeries, hard to tell though. Good luck let us know what happens.
Well maybe being cold is the issue since she is going in the house okay I assume. When my dog had a bladder infection she was going inside and out every 20 minutes or so and it was pink to red. If you think it could be an issue my vet showed me how to collect a sample. Wait for her to squat and slide a shallow tin (like for tuna) or dish under her and then put that in a very clean bottle. For dogs that are not happy with anyone being too close he has a tin attached to a stretched out wire hanger.
the t-shirt is great. I had that for both my dogs and they looked so cute and were much more comfortable than a collar. One had a bright pink shirt with the collar and 3 button front and even the vet couldn't stop laughing at how cute she was. Also, if the incision is leaky you can attach a "ladies feminie hygene" product to the inside of the shirt to keep the stitches and shirt clean.
My last dog popped a couple of stitches the day after a tummy surgery and the vet just left them. As long as the dog is still healing okay it's not worth trying to get another stitch in.
So I contacted the vet office during 'off hours' and I was told that she is either turned off by how cold it is outside or that she may have a bladder infection. She is getting better with holding her bladder in the house but still not perfect. But now there's a new problem! She managed to remove one of the three stitches in her belly. So now she's wearing a new 'doggy t-shirt' and that seems to be working (she hasn't bothered with her stitches). I also got her an 'e-collar' in case. I thought the t-shirt was a nicer thing to try first :P Anyhow, tomorrow morning I'm bringing her into the vet and I'm assuming that they will have to re-stitch her? I don't know...I wish dogs didn't have to go through all of this.
how's the puppy feeling....is her nose warm??? i wouldn't be too concerned...either she's still a bit doppy from the surgery and not feeling quite herself...or she's pissed (no pun intended) off with you and she'll get over it. but either way let her know it's not acceptable behaviour for a princess.
at all. Call the vet and let us know what he/she says.
This is NOT normal, unless she's on some sort of steroid, which I doubt.
Is she on any sort of antibiotics?
I'd definitely call the Vet and tell them what's going on.
She could have an infection brewing or there could be something else that's happened during surgery.
Good luck with your pup.
I don't remember that being an issue with either of my dogs when they were spayed so you might want to call the vet and ask.
if this wasnt normal behaviour for her before the surgery, i would say it likely does have something to do with the surgery. However, to be sure i would just give your vet a quick call and see what they have to say. Good luck!
