bluedenim...how did you guess i love leather....LOL....i think DH would freak if i tried leather curtains....he thinks i go a lil overboard with leather....,i don't see it tho'...but thanks for the compliments
i was thinking of letting him pick up some curtains....just to see what kind of monstrosity he would bring home...LOL
I love it it is beautiful You sure don't have to spend alot to have a high end look!!!
as for the windows
I don't like the curtains up high, at least not that high, maybe just a few inches above and I guess it depends if you use tabs or not....if using tabs I would do it just a bit higher than the window.
As for the fabric. Red does give it a punch
But I really love the idea of faux leather.....
I have faux leather curtains in my bedroom from linen and things....
I like the idea of pairing the faux leather with something softer and just a tad lighter in colour such as microfibre, suede or something.
Great ideas...
and congrats again it looks stunning
glaswegian...no i'm not kidding...i want to get one for my bedroom
Stepford Wife #1....love the movie btw...yup my kitchen is from Superstore...the table...chairs...tower...and even a few of the accessories are from there...one of my favorite places...next to Walmart that is.... :D
I cannot believe all the pictures posted here of the lovely rooms. You kitchen is awesome and you say you bought most of it from a Superstore? It is amazing what you can put together to get a wonderful styles. I will learn a lot by reading more and I especially like the pictures as it makes the reading more interesting for me.
You did a wonderful job.[SIZE=7][COLOR=DarkOrange] Wonderful.
jenjen..........they had an area rug and a mat, couldnt believe it....dont think you DS's and DH would like the comfort of it when they lay on the floor lol

Jennifer.....please tell me you are kidding me?
a leather rug....i know i'm hoping to get one very soon!!!
sakes girl, im out of town for one day and you are decorating up a storm...love the cabinet...it is fab there, my first choice is the red curtains hung above the window but not too close to cieling, for of a more neuatral color, i love the brown....sometimes i prefer the flexibility of being able to change accessories without changing big things.............your room is looking amazing jenjen, and btw thought of you today while shopping, i seen mats and an area rug in leather at homeoutfitters lol
smiles

actually the brown ones that are there are a faux suede...oohhhh so soft
mmm, after doing this mockup, I was thinking your drapes could maybe be a soft faux suede material, or something equally soft and luxurious to the touch. Not shiny, but matt.
Or wouldn't it be so cool to have the bottom half in a dark chocolate faux leather!
lol...i may stick it in the garage...hopefully soon
jen
how difficult would it be to move your freezer to your stadium size rec room?
Would you need to take an elevator to get to your previously homemade frozen desserts, or is it easily accessible?
thanks for the ideas Cat...but what do i do after sew my fingers together trying to do that...LOL....i think i need to call my mommy!!!
Drape dilemma. So here is what you do. I like the brown ones, because they are a stronger colour and bring out the dark wood and the new cabinet.
But what if you take all 4 drapes and cut them all into half vertically, then resew them together, so each panel will be dark brown AND beige, in a vertical stripe.
Or, buy another set of the beige, and cut up the brown ones, and add a large brown panel on the bottom of each beige panel. Ala Sarah Richardson.
I'll try to do a mock up for you. Personally I didn't like the red striped drapes. If you want red, I would go with a darker red, something that goes with chocolate.
oh I wanted to add that both tops don't look right. The sagging swoop and the tab top. You need something more formal, like pleated. Maybe try doing that tip I gave you, of sewing the tabs behind the curtain.
ok..i was wondering about that...i was thinking..where in the hell am i gonna find those!!!!! :D
darnit barney!
OK, thanks for checking. I might go to the store just to see them up close. But I'm liking the idea france had about a rectangular shape to mix it up a bit and those were square, so maybe they weren't meant to be.
I said grommet style pocket rod above, but I meant EITHER grommet style, OR pocket rod! I kill me.
that's exactly what i thought of them Inglewood
he he...*cmm*...i'll have to try all that twisting...he's come down with the flu...so i don't think he'll put up too much resistance :D ...the other thing i just got the new Rest. Hard. catalogue...no poh poh's...atleast they aren't in the catalogue either.... :(
holy crud! Too many posts to read through
My thoughts-
-red striped curtains from before, if you can twist DH's leg(s), arm and neck!!!
-2nd preference...the combination (red & brown customized) Although, consider a dark burnt orangy rust colour before you commit to red!! I think it might look even better than red, and red looks great!
-hang them halfway between window and ceiling
-grommet style pocket rod at the back -not tab style
Shelving unit looks good! :D
The parson chairs at Zeller's look nice but they are as hard as a ROCK.
If your guests go to sit down on what they would think are padded they are going to end up getting hurt. ....no padding
yesterday and spotted your drapes. I really like the red striped ones...the colour looked better in person than it did on my monitor. However, I did notice there was a third colour to choose from...they were a darker brown stripe with a tan...I think they would be look way better than the light beige ones and stand out more. They might be the perfect compromise for your DH. Also, my opinion on the height of the drapes is...if they are going to be rod pocket then keep them at the height they are currently at but if they are going to be tab tops then raise them up enough to cover the trim.
like the red w/brown band sooo much. hang them just above the casing not too close to the ceiling. i prefer just one cabinet too.
looks great!
i guess the height of your ceilings would also play a big factor in where you hang them....i just have regular 8 foot ceilings
opinions are good
I first hung the curtains on our patio door close to the ceiling. But it just looked wrong, so I moved them to a few inches above the top of the window frame. That height looks good to me. Again, just my opinion :)
good idea...i got used to him :D
what do you think of the idea I stated earlier.........brown (for DH) curtains, with a red (for you) band?
and NO, I think I paid around 6$ a vase........you win!
well even at $6 each...still not too bad...i will swing that one by DH...sounds like a good compromise to me
JenJen your room is looking fabulous! I'd stick with the one shelf, and I also like the curtains lower down. Ikea does have a great selection of ready to hang curtains. I'm sure that you and DH will be able to find something you can both agree on. Maybe he just has to live with the red curtains to get used to them.
hey jen,
what do you think of the idea I stated earlier.........brown (for DH) curtains, with a red (for you) band?
and NO, I think I paid around 6$ a vase........you win!
does your room ever look nice, very wow with the corner cabinet and side panels. I prefer the side panels hung just above the window than at the ceiling and pocket panels with the band at the bottom look the nicest in that room. Good job. :)
