As many of you know, I have had a cast on my right arm for over 6 weeks now. What you may not know (although I seem to remember confessing this quirk in a long-gone thread) is that I bite my nails. Well, thecast has my wrist bent in such a fashion that I can't get the fingers to the mouth, and I noticd last week that I have the beginning of NAILS !!!!

My question is : what can I buy cheaply in the drugstore that will strengthen them?

I think I might try that Sally Hansen stuff. My nails are becoming so dry and brittle and they've got ridges too.

I've always had good nails up until the last 3 or 4 years - so this seems to be an age related thing. Just one more among the many.

There is a Sally Hansen nail product that either won awards and is getting great reviews.

It comes in an aqua blue square bottle and is called a 4 in 1 treatment for nails.

A base coat, strengthener, moisturizer and top coat.

Many nail polishes have Teflon in them for strength, even clear ones.

nana24, thanks for the tip, but I have bad osteoporosis, by the time I had my first bone density scan at 50 years old, I had lost an inch in height. I take Fosavance and also vitamin D and 2 x calcium pills daily. They do seem to help, my nails don't seem to be as weak as they used to be, but I am also looking for an external quick-fix, too.

I have been using Nutra Nail for a few years and find it works....You can buy it at Zellers,Wal-Mart or probably any drugstore...It costs about $5.00.
