Need help choosing paint colors

Hello,

I have an open house concept, which is on the smaller side. All my furniture and kitchen cabinets are a deep cherry mohagony color. I'd like to find a paint color that will compliment my furniture without being too dark making the space look smaller. Also, my bedroom furniture is the same deep red color and I was thinking of painting my bedroom Templeton Grey – by Benjamin Moore and paint the ceiling and all the moldings white.. However Im afraid the colors will clash and the room may seem too small. Many thanks in advance for all of your help!!!

A nice paint colour you can go with is Revere Pewter...I did my front entrance in that colour as well as my bedroom and I really like it.  Its a warm grey and it is very calming.

I don't have my paint chips unpacked yet so can't help much with specific colour but I can tell you this, the contrasting trim is what makes the room smaller. If you paint your trim a colour that is quite different from the walls you just cut your room up with a bunch of whilte lines which makes it seem smaller. So if you really want white trim, keep that in mind when picking a paint colour. Otherwise I have never found darker colours make rooms smaller. Actually I find the opposite especially once pictures go up as the walls fall away. What does happen between dark or light paint is the feeling of dark or light, not so much large or small. Since a lot of people associate lighter with bigger the debate begins but reality is it's that contrasty trim that really visually changes the size of a room.
