Need help finding budget-conscious area rug

I'd like to find a large 9 x 12 area rug for my living room, but I don't want to spend more than $1000 on it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find a stylish, preferably wool, area rug that will stand the test of time?

Or am I being unrealistic about what I can get for $1000??? It seems as though area rugs are incredibly expensive. If that's the case, how do I budget for this area rug?

Yes the only thing is that you gotta keep looking. I bought a new house couple of months ago and trust me .... I found the mirrored table for like $199 (Deboers at $599), Lamps for $59 (Cost $299 at home hardware restoration center). If you could wait for the rug...keep lookin. Good Luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, I've looked at HomeSense and I guess I'll have to keep going until I find a rug I really like...it's very hit and miss. That's my only issue. And I'm super picky about the colours, texture, etc....

Homesense is where I was going to suggest as well.  I bought one (11x14) a few years ago for under $500 ( can't remember the exact price but know it was reasonable).

Hey Beads,

I found mine (9x12) at Homesense and only paid $399 for it.
