Hi,
Please help! We moved to this house in October and I need some brainstorming on the following in regard to the rear view of the house - which as you can see - is UGLY!!!!!
Thoughts on:
>unifying the window scheme, french doors, bigger windows, symmetry...
>stucco - should I stucco the yellow sided additions or should I do more?
>balcony off the second floor?
>back porch design?
Thank you for your help - this is keeping me up at night!front of house
Pains me to look at it!

I love old homes. We live in one that is 100 years old. Of course the drawback is it costs alot of money to renovate. I guess the question is, how much are you willing to spend? If it is a fairly minor fix, I would make the colour of the third floor dormer section similar to the downstairs addition. It looks taupe from my photo. I would also take down the roof on the verandah and make that all a large open deck/patio area extending across the width of the house with gardens surrounding it. Personally, I find the windows of the house gloomy looking, but I am not a big fan of dark painted windows. If money is available, making the windows on the third floor old fashioned dormer windows, would be great. French doors out to the patio area would be wonderful as well.
