need kitchen finish advice

We are in the process of changing elements of our kitchen. So far...only the floor is done! I've attached a pic of some inspiration, our actual floor, and options for paint (cabinet and wall), counter and tile backsplash. I'd love any comments, advice or suggestions you might give. We want a more modern feeling kitchen, without going overboard, or tiring of it too quickly.

Specifically, I am concerned about:
1) going with this counter might blend too much with the cabinet
2) choosing either 1x1 or 1x2 stacked glass tile for the backsplash

Any ideas/comments/suggestions?

Thanks!

Your inspiration board looks terrific. Both tile options look good, too. Design editors seem to be leaning toward a larger glass tile backsplash. Tune into next week's TV episode launching Monday -- it features former design editor Erin Feasby's glass tile backsplash: http://www.houseandhome.com/tv/

Cameron MacNeil, on the other hand, used charcoal mosiac tile in his kitchen: http://www.houseandhome.com/tv/segment/modern-kitchen-tour

Hope these inspire!

Lis.

Yes the counters will look nice once the kitchen will be complete....

I think your colours will go well with the counter top.  I have about the same colours in my kitchen, BM Wooden Swing , ivory cabinets and an arborite top that looks like yours.  I do not have any backsplash though and our floor is a tuscan style stone vinyl flooring.  I love the idea of the dark flooring though.  It will show dirt more but we had a dark tile in our other house and loved the look.  Our digital camera is broken so I can not even take a picture of it.  Since the backsplash is the last thing you would do, get the rest done and then bring home some samples.  It might help with the decision.
