You should be able to find a paint colour that's a pretty good match. Ralph Lauren Turret Stair might be worth checking out. And maybe BM Night Shade or Black Bean Soup. If you can't find handles that match the armoire, you could always replace the armoire ones with the same kind that you buy for the dresser.
that looks awesome....i do really like that...what do you think my chances of matching the same ebony black as the armoire...then again the sky is the limit with paint these days...........thank you so much

Here's a mock-up with BM Bittersweet Chocolate and the same hardware that you have on the armoire.
kipper, you are too funny.....actually the comforter isnt too bad.....and my problem is i become very comfy with my comforter, its worn in and the stiffness is gone....thats what i hate the most about switching to a new one...but heck i was pricing them the other day and whew, can be pricey....so i thought for now i will just work with it....im not going to use the pillow shams that came with it, im going to go get some solid ones to give it a change and also a nice throw at the bottom of the bed.....and yes us grannies will enjoy our comforters lol
luvtodecorate....that is my missy girl, she is 10 years old and is spoiled rotten...she never use to have her own bed on our bed, but slept there anyway...but everytime i would put a basket of laundry there, she would crawl into it and sleep on the clothes and get angry when i would kick her butt out, so we went and got her a bed and she loves it.... she dislikes the new leather furniture, so when she makes her way to the living room she steals the dogs bed...lol

Janet, you're on to a good start with your bedroom makeover. I would paint the dresser black and change the hardware. I like your cat :D It has a good spot in your bedroom....mine hangs around there too at night (some spoiled kitties) :D
What??? What's wrong with your comforter?????
I thought it was pretty. Kinda Laura Ashley-like. I had a duvet cover along the same lines, only mine was blues and olives. We have abigger bed now, so it doesn't fit the bedding anymore. I fold it and use it like a throw at the end of the bed (mostly to keep dirty children off my white duvet) but I thought it was ok still.
Bah... forget everyone else. You and I can hang out in our Granny bedrooms, and look at paint chips.
kipper
for your votes...lol hubby is saying the dresser is a piece of crap and not worth painting, but i think as long as its still standing then it can be done
janinvan.....i will have to check out the mirrors in zellers, thank you
kipper, thank you for your compliments on my comforter.....are you pulling my leg lol that you actually like my comforter lol.....well it is staying a while longer
smiles
janetc
Yes, I still say paint it black, even the "brass" strips on it. Change out the hardware to better match the armoire as well. Nice duvet by the way.
kipper
also you cna change the hardware on the dresser, I know at Home Depot they have similar handles to what is on your amoire and I think they are only $2.50 a handle
Check out Zellers. Yesterday ours had black & brown mottled framed mirrors, 2' x 2' or so. You might be able to paint your dresser one of the shades of brown if you don't want the black. It would still tie the furniture together. Keep to a dark colour.
paint the dressr black even after seeing the headboard. My concern with painting the dresser a light color would be it might look to black and white which I don't think woud flow very well. A thought might be paint the dresser the wall color? I don't know that i owuld do that it is just a thought.
is the best i can do getting the two pieces of furniture together....so now i will see what the mock up gurus can do for me...my walls are not that dark, they are actually just a bone color, must be the night time lighting
thanks heaps

you are not off the cuff....i had thought of that too, just having a hard time picturing it in a different color, so i was going to take the easy route out and try and get another wood one around the same tone of wood that i will be using for night tables....which are just going to be tv tables from walmart....they are solid and they have them in the dark wood and we dont have much space on each side of the bed. and they are really easy maintenance for me to move and vacumm under, so thats my reasoning for the tv table night stands lol....i just may have to post a full pic of the dresser and have you do a mock up for me lol

Well I might be right out to lunch here, but it wouldn't be the first time. Does all the furniture have to be the same colour/tone? What if you painted the dresser a light colour? Maybe the same as your trim if you are doing your trim lighter? Or what if it was the same (or slightly darker/lighter) as the wall colour so it would fade into the background a bit?
messy bed DD and her friends were in there playing and the cat bed has to stay too, the spoiled brat has her own bed on our bed, although i may be getting her a new one lol

guys...im just loving it, like a kid xmas morning
kipper, Reginagirl, Reno... that part of the dresser you see in the pic is the one i would love to replace....its a laminate fake oak look, very 80's looking....however i did consider painting it but was worried it may be too much black, then again most bedroom sets are all the same color....painting it sure would be alot easier on the budget lol
condogirl...yes im planning on a mirror above the dresser, thank you
smoodgie...i have had this bamboo sitting on the dishwasher and its done well so far, i hope it does well in the bedroom....yes we have bought the paint, i was so tired of trying to decide on a color, so i layed out my favs and told hubby to pick one....so pink peppercorn it is, the name is decieving as it actually looks like a taupy beige....it seems to tie in with the existing comforter and carpet....but heck it will be a change and be fresh and that is what matters lol
amy...oh its the life to be able to hide the clutter...its going to be so nice when i crawl into bed tonight and dont have to look at that mess while im watching tv lol
my headboard is staying, i will post a pic and see if you all still think the dresser should be painted black

I have seen that before. It works perfect in your space. I was also going to suggest you paint your dresser black.
with those that say keep it the same colour - you could paint the one you have now, that would work!
Nice armoire, btw
Love the armoire!!
Is the tallboy dresser to replace the one you have now? I was going to suggest simply painting the one you have now black. Then you don't have to worry about storing or getting rid of the old one once the new one arrives.
The room is starting to come together nicely!
kipper
Love the new cabinet, looks great. I would suggest going with a dresser in the same colour. It would give the room a more uniform look. Maybe you could find a mirror wiht a dark frame somewhere in the room too.
I like it Janet. I like furniture that you can hide a mess in :D
As for another dresser, I don't know what colour you should get.
Looks good, janetc :) I like your vase of bamboo too :)
Have you decided on a wall colour yet??
janinvan....that is my thoughts exactly, i like DC"s tucked away, i could never reach that tv, it was far too high, so hubby always had to get on a chair....i love the fact that everything is now behind the doors, at least i feel like its more like our bedroom and not a family room....boy im rambling....as you can tell im thrilled to pieces lol
smiles
janetc
That was a $149 well spent. Looks so finished now. And less dusting with everything tucked away so well.
the beginning of our bedroom makeover...now we need one tall boy dresser, any suggestions on color for that, i was thinking a medium color wood, perhaps with black handles to pick up the black from the cabinet, or would you say try and find the same black as the cabinet, however i feel that may be too much as our headboard is also wrought iron in black and i would likely never find one in the same black
smiles
janetc
pics as promised
smiles
janetc..........we are happy ecspecially that is the mess i had to look at while watching tv in bed....much more of a relaxed feel now
first pic is a before....aww tv hanger is gone yahoo!
second pic of new computer armoire
lol you are so funny, sound just like me...i love pics...okay DH had to run DD to her boyfriends and when he returns we will finish building it and putting the computer in it, so i will post a pic just for you lol
smiles
janetc
that is really mean for you not to show us a picture. How about just a picture of the picture on the box? Come on, come on.
when the bedroom is painted and all done you will see the pics lol...and yes i found it at walmart and did get a good deal, jenjen will likely recall it when she sees it....it is made by sauder, and its in a ebony color...and only around 149.00...so for sure i would say a good deal
