New Front Door Colour

JenniPoo's picture

OMG never thought changing the colour of my front door would cause such a commotion in my house! This is my story (sorry for the length of it)...and my question
I really like to decorate, so does my sister, she actually does it for a living.  I know both of us, have no problem handing out advise to people with design dilemas but when it comes to our own places we choke!
I have a little cottage style house(1920's in the beach area with an old glassed in porch in the front.  The house is white with forest green trim/sloping roof of dark green, window to the left of the porch has an old awning of white and green (I would love to change all this one of these days, but I am working on other projects throughout the house that are more priority) and its cute, albiete too much green for my taste
Up until the other day the front door was covered with a storm door, which I removed, with the glassed in porch the storm door was redundant
On the porch I have a very large painting of a vase of flowers in there, the colours prodminantly orange, yellow, green, cream, royal blue.
My sister suggested I paint the door a persimmon orange in gloss.
With this I think if I decorate my garden in orange/yellow/various greens it would look amazing
Now I have almost convinced myself to do it, my kids (boy18girl15) think this is a menopause move...what do you think??

Thank you for the support and comments! Since then, I did end up painting my door this vibrant colour, and planted coordinating flowers in the garden, I love it, its really fresh and lights up the entrance.
I got a big antique brown/bronze door knocker and it tones the door down a bit...I must say I have noticed my door colour though out the neighbourhood now...hmm coincidence?
