Hello! I'm a 32 year old male who has recently gone through a divorce. I got the house, but the ex took just about all of the furnishings. So, I am out looking for ideas/suggestions/advice and ran across this forum (via the web address in the printed mag). Hopefully I can learn a thing or two here from you ladies (and guys) and get my place looking like a home again.
Thanks,
Bill

 Wow! I step away from the computer for a bit and come back to this.....lol

Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!
no, not even one. I'll watch. :D
how about just one feather.... :D
Jen-Are you gonna be there in the room too? Don't come near me with that feather duster!...or that spottybubbly thing either.
Dh used to have a Cagiva Grand Canyon 900 with Ducati engine. But when we moved here, Canada wouldn't allow us to bring it in. (not on the list of imported bikes) Huge bummer!
So now he has a beat up old Cagiva Elefant, bought from the US, that he rides around. But he still dreams and misses his 900.
His buddy back home, has a Duke and goes on country wide tours.
ok...we'll save you a spot Cat...LOL
Gees, get a room :D
like mel said plenty of time for that...and you gotta earn them!....;)
HAHAHAHAHA...there'll be plently of time for that. ;)
jenjen: table dances to die for? sounds like i need more details

its just me: hahaha, you know your motorcycles well. yes, my last bike was a '01 duke II. Right now I am looking at an aprilia tuono. what cagiva model does your dh have? tell him if he is thinking about a duke, go for it. they are a riot to ride in the curves.
jenjen: the user name is just a bike that i used to have. and welcome to you as well. ;)
mel76: thanks for the heads up. yeah, separation/divorce is a pita, but its a fact of life and it happens. hopefully yours hasnt been too stressful. and table dances? is that something i should keep my eyes open for? :D
Welcome to the forum!!! Just to warn you...that feather duster thread was tame compared to some of the crap Jen and I start around here. Hope you have thick skin..you may need it.
Oh yeah, I'm recently seperated too. Packed the kids up and moved from Newfieland to Alberta. This place provides a wonderful distraction/support system. Hope you enjoy your time here..and get lots of good advice.
:) Mel
you should watch out for Jen's table dances tho...they could get you in trouble. :biglol:
huh?....i don't get the name!
oh and welcome
Welcome and love the name! obviously you have a Duke or are like my dh and wants one. He has a Cagiva.
I am sure you will find this place very interesting. :D
hey monday! welcome to the divorce club....
guess i never thought of used furniture. might have to look at that angle. i guess i would be afraid that it might stink or have some kind of odor/mold/??? that i could not get rid of. but then again, pick up a nice solid, sturdy piece for dirt cheap and have it redone (both foam and covering) and it could be quite the attractive, unique alternative. :applaud:
Hey new guy! Welcome. Yes me going thru divorce 2. Only hubby got the house, the furniture, the vehicles, the pets etc etc. I got what I could shove into a U-haul and moved halfway cross the country back to my hometown. Really regret that part! Women don't get everything.
I went to the "used furniture" stores and I got a cheap 70's davenport in lovely plaid upholstery with teck arms. Ok it's ugly but man i love sleeping on it. Yes I finally bought a bed but i ove my crappy sofa. One day when I'm rich I'll change the upholstery. What can you say for $70.
looking forward to pics. almost like being a peeping tom seeing other people's places.
thanks cathie! hehehe.....yea, i tend to have a decent sense of humour. and yes, i noticed the thread about the feather duster. WOW!!!
aaaahhhh a man with a sence of humour....welcome....we tend to talk about lots of things here besides decorating....so feel free to jump in..... :clapping:
janetc: thank you! yes, i need to dig out my digital camera and take a shot or two of the rooms i'm looking to work with. and yes, a tight budget so anything on the cheap is good with me ;)
decorguy: cool! i figured i would be the only guy on here. of course, i could use a women's opinion now and then otherwise my house decor would consist of cars, football and hockey themes.....
bigmama: thank you. yes, i should think about that before i dump a bunch of cash on the hallway closet :D
Hi and welcome!!
I think you need to first think about what rooms you really spend your time in and life style etc.
I cannot wait to see some pictures. You will get lots of different advice on here :)
Welcome aboard, good to have another guy on here... get those pics and we'll set you up.
welcome aboard............hey if you can post pics and give us ideas on what you like, we can decorate on the tightest of budgets.........trust me, i do it everyday! we look forward to helping you out.
smiles
janetc
