First of all, you guys have been way too busy on this board! I swear we are hitting a hundred posts a day here, if not more.

Paul put my new cabinet and drawer hardware on today. I was so excited walking into the house from work tonite to see it all done. I just have to touch up the paint. I wish he would have done it before putting them on!!! MEN!!!

Also, just a note - we are also replacing the countertop and flooring this summer. So it will all come together eventually. :-)

Yes, my cabinets were oak. And they were very nice, if you like oak. I wanted to brighten my dreary kitchen. :-)

First, I took each down off the hinges (mark each cabinet and hinge A+A so you know which ones go where). I cleaned them really really well, sanded them with a fine sandpaper, and washed them again. I let them dry completely - allow to dry overnight to ensure you get all moisture out of grooves, etc.

I then gave two coats of primer, and then painted with just a latex paint (Dutch Boy's White Castle). They took three coats to really get the coverage I wanted on them. I have NEVER EVER regretted it~! In fact, it was one of the best decisions I ever made. :-)

The colour is Dutch Boy's White Castle. It's my favourite of all the antique/creamy whites :-)

Meant to also say .... we put the bin pulls on the drawers and the slick grab pulls on the doors. I'm so very happy. I'll get a better picture later when the dig cam is charged.
