Hi there,
I have been a lurker on this site for awhile now...I know you ladies and gents have some wonderful ideas and opinions on all this design stuff so I am hoping for some help!
I am about to paint my living room/dining room combo. My husband and I have already decided to go a neutral beige with an accent wall in chocolate brown. I am having trouble picking a biege... there are just SO many, I don't know where to start!
Here is some more information about the room... we have light hardwood floors, natural birch (which looks very similar to natural maple). We do get some natural light from our big front windows. The living/dining room is open to the kitchen and hallway.
Can anyone suggest a "good" beige to go with our floors?? I know we don't want the room to look too dark, but at the same time, because the floors are so light, I don't want it looking washed out! As well, any suggestions on a good dark brown for my accent wall would be helpful too!
Thanks,
Jennie

I think you are right----you don't want the paint too light or it will look washed out with the floors. I think you should go to a deeper, richer tone for some contrast with the floors. (White trim?) It would be helpful to know what furnishings/accessories you are planning to put in your home as this may be a deciding factor on what shade of paint to use to get the tone of paint right. I have maple hardwood and I have Behr Haze on the walls now. I love BM Rocky Road CC-470. I call it an almost perfect neutral. Check it out. Works wonderfully with almost any colour of accessories. I will post a couple of pics of my home with the Haze-----------

I can't give you a name of a colour off the top of my head but I think I would try to keep it in the yellow/gold tones of beige instead of the peachy tone of beige. Against brown, it may look too peachy. I think the yellow/gold tone would go better with your floor too.
