Hey ladies and gents,
DH and I bought our first house last weekend and is going CRAZY with ideas to remodel the home to just how we want it.
DH claims that he is a handyman, but I doubt his skills (did not tell him that directly) He has built a couple decks with his buddies, so I am not worried about that, but these are some projects he plans to work on within the next year:
Staircase: it is currently enclosed with walls etc. we want to open it up to such (pic below) but with railing instead of the wall they have there, you get the idea.
Basement: Take down 1 exsisting wall to make it more open (he claims it is not a supporting wall but I am scared.)
Deck: remove existing concrete patio and put in wooden deck and later put a patio door/frenchdoors in the back, leading to the patio
Some electrical rewiring to put in more overhead lights in several walls, kitchen etc. (this I AM VERY concerned about...)
Replacing the fence (this is relately easy, he's also done it several times with buddies)
SO basically most of my concerns stems from the staircase, door and the electrical rewiring thing.
Does anyone have DH or yourself done such projects. If so how difficult and complex are they? any advice or suggestions?
Note: the only tools we have are drills and hammers.. so we probably need to buy LOTs of new tools too... (DH plans to plant a money tree in the back too lol)
