OK

Maybe we should all just simply revert back to simplier times.
Amish ways.
They do use the internet now don't they ?
;)
I saw a segment on 16:9 on it - a new newsmagazine that I think I'll keep an eye on.
The EMF (dirty electricity) waves were horrifying. They have been saying for years that we shouldn't sleep with anything electrical nearby - turn off the waterbed heater when you get into bed, or the electric blanket, get a battery alarm clock instead of a plug in, because they learned how bad the electrical fields are for us.
Now some of these light bulbs are putting out hundreds of times the amount that a normal electrical applicance would, and we are spending hours within close range of them - and so are our kids.
Mine don't crackle, but they take forever to light up and sometimes seem to hum. I hate the things and after seeing the story mentioned pulled all but one out. I'll put them in the basement or something but until they make the things fit for humans in safety and appearance, they can keep them.
BTW unless the package says specifically, they can not be used with a dimmer or in an enclosed fixture or they are trouble.
I purchased some - some time ago & immediately disliked the office sterile cold blueish glow. I now see they have 'warmer glow' ones on the market.
I have some of those bulbs and I have never heard them crackle. Were they cold -- like, had you just brought them in from outside?
BTW, did you see the Fifth Estate (I think that was the show -- a Canadian news magazine show, at any rate) when they talked about the new energy efficient bulbs. The curly ones got a bad rap for UV rays -- they even caused health problems for some people with diseases like Lupus who got too close to them for a prolonged period. And they contain mercury, so they're hazardous if they're broken. The ones with the shield came off better, but tested poorly for "dirty electricity". Kind of gives you pause about the "environmental benefits".
