Isn't Ms. Milano more recently of Maxim fame?

I bet the comparison makes perfect sense. After all, Italy is pretty close to Portugal, isn't it?

Jen, take a fashion cue from Alyssa, I bet DH will let you paint WHATEVER you want!

you've got the right idea now Jenjen. Take it slow and easy. Don't rush things. Try a few things out. If you rush, you'll only regret it. And you can't take us all too seriously. If you try and please everyone all at once; that can only lead to disappointment ;-)

Post a picture of your pretty living room!

Jem had painted her foyer a great soft green/white - what was that colour anyway Jem? - I think it would work for JJ.

I don't know how long wading through this post. I thought it was from last year, it was so long. HA! Now, I LOVE Dreamer's idea of the reveal...wink wink ..if you know what I mean and I don't think JJ has to even lift a paintbrush to get a reaction from DH!! If it was black , purple green or blue, if she followed Dreamers lead - he won't give a hoot what colour she paints the walls or the wood..LOL:D

I thought Jenjen was a 17 year old pretending to be an adult while still living at home with her parents! :D

"Mature, sensual, moody, sophisticated". What is your fantasy jenjen wearing, Mike? ;)

I think of Jen as "spirited, playful, intense and smart". In MY mind, she is wearing jeans, and a Maple Leafs t-shirt, with black boots, a black leather jacket and a big grin. BLACK, that is, like her room ought to be.

I forgot about Red's white suggestion -- remember now. What's with that guy? I've never before heard of a guy who won't paint out wood! :-) What is it with guy's that they won't paint out wood? I'm a guy and I just don't get it! Too bad really because I think the aubergine/taupe scheme would really suit JJ -- mature, sensual, moody and sophisticated. It would be especially nice with all the other accessories I thought of.

you just work on that DH of yours!! I mean you gave him the garagemahal. He owes you. And for goodness sake, he can't even complain about having to do the job, since you paint everything yourself! I don't know him, but I believe you have great powers of persuasion. I'm thinking he won't mind.

My understanding is that JJ's DH is not going to agree to paint his wood, not one splinter of it, no matter who suggests white or black (remember the Bird originally suggested the whole suite be painted white?). Even if we replaced her suite (which DH loves) she has all that trim (which DH also loves). So, I am trying to work with the man, since I think we are spinning our wheels proposing otherwise.

I know the look I'm suggesting works best with dark stained woods -- espresso, bitter sweet chocolate, etc. But didn't someone suggest that JJ might paint her furniture out black? Things would go better then, wouldn't they? Personally, I think JJ should sell the furniture and buy espresso stained stuff with a much cleaner line :-) Then we'd be sailing :-)

Mel, I can't find a swatch of the colour to work from.

Itsjustme,

Are you able to do mock-ups with Pittsburg Paints?? If you can..will you try Patches for me? I think it might just work with that furniture.

Thanks,
:) Mel

i like the Parisian cafe and Cossack if one should feel daring..the Gothic looks very bland.

I love eggplant or "aubergine" BUT I had a colour like that against my own reddish wood and DESPISED it. I think any pink or red will make jen's furniture look orange, and as much as I love orange, orange wood is a very bad thing.

Aubergine is perfect for wood stained with a grey or greenish undertone to the brown.

crazy was de rigueur for this forum? Especially on any thread of jenjen's.

Jen - I do love the black and wish I could sell you on the idea. To me, nothing shows that wood off as well as black. Everyone with some nice cherry toned wood in their home should hold their black cat, frying pan, trench coat or heart up against the wood and see if they don't agree.

the PC fan book (where is that red bird when you need her), but I have some BM colours that might work. For the aubergene try "carbon copy" (2117-10). There are a number of taupes that might work -- you could try "metropolis" (cc-546), "kingsport gray" (hc-86) or perhaps "stardust" (2108-40); to name but a few. You could buy a few small pots of the different colours and see which you prefer.

I love this kind of look JJ; but I must confess I'm not sure if it will blend well with the reddish tone of your furniture. It might (because there will be red in the aubergene and possibly in some of those taupe tones), but I'm just not sure. However, if you were prepared to paint your furniture black, as some have suggested, I think it would work really well. I think the black would really pop off the taupe. But that is one hell of a commitment and you'd have to give it some serious thought.
