Oiling wood floors

Lynda Reeves has mentioned oiled wood floors several times in articles in the magazine - how beautiful they are and how easy to oil, etc. We have an oiled fir floor that we did ourselves 7 years ago when we built our house. We did it because we liked the idea but also on our own - nobody we talked to had any idea how to do it and thought we were nuts to want to. We used Danish Oil at the time. I know it needs to be oiled yearly but the Danish Oil is so smelly and such a process that we haven't been very faithful to the maintenance. Does anybody know what kind of oil Lynda uses or refers to and how she/they go about it?

I do not know what Lynda Reeves uses, however, Minwax makes 2 oils -  TUNG OIL and ANTIQUE OIL.  I believe all oils will have an odour to them since they are not water based. (NO such thing as a 'water based oil'. Not sure if this info helps you or not.
