ok, here it is

I friggin drew up my bedroom myself, as I couldn't find any similar layout on the net. :biglol:
Some things to note:
The room is not as big and spacious as it looks on here, or as neat, LOL
The slope by the headboard is quite sloped.

So here is what is in my head right now of how to paint my walls.

Option One

Would it be ok if I used 3 colours?
BM Gossamar Blue for the dark blue walls
BM Almond Bisque for the light coloured walls
and BM Straw Hat only behind the headboard

My reasoning is. I love the blue, matches the new comforter. The rest of the walls I don't want dark, so the Almond Bisque should do it. But the headboard area needs something, so I thought of using the Straw Hat, which matches the inner of the bedding.

I'll post another option, but only using 2 colours. ;)

Gees, help me so I can stop thinking and just go buy the friggin paint!!!

I have been advised to take a break, and not think about the bedroom for a week. I have too many ideas in my head. I had a migraine last night, and have developed a fever blister on my lip from the stress, LOL
So I'm outside today, gardening! wahoo

Also now that the SUN is shining, the room looks totally different and I found myself looking at the lighter shades for a breezy feel, instead of the comfy, cozy feel! Good grief, who knew this could be so friggin confusing?!

i also think you should paint the room all one color....if the colors of your comforter look as they do on my monitor and you want a clean gold but not too gold or too brown....try going to look at a paint chip put out by Sico called Stone Temple.....it is also in thier comfort booklet....i think its a pretty color. Rona offers the sico paint chips....

What about picking up sample pots of the three top runners and painting some of the walls? It's usually the best way to figure it out rather than looking at those dinking chips. Whatever you do make sure you look at the colours in your room and don't make any decisions in the store because the lighting will be totally different.

Olie-I like all your ideas, I am glad you posted, not too late at all, I am still swirling ideas around in my head. I will have to go back to the store and look at those colours. Just came from there now, read your post to late!

I know I'm late jumping in here but I see you're still on the colour fence.
Your new bedding is beautiful and needs a more sophisticated wall treatment & colour to make it the star. I agree that painting different colours will only break up the room more and make the angles the star. Straw hat reads really quite yellow when it's on the wall and with your taupe (pink based) carpet, it will seem even more so.

I'd go with a muddier yellow wall colour like butter cream or sandy brown for ALL the walls and the ceiling slopes and use it 50% on the ceiling. Do your trim and doors in a warm off white like OC-6. Bring the grey blue in with the drapes to keep things rich. I'd go with a solid coloured or textured silk to up the glamour but keep it simple. You've got nice dark woods also that would look richer against a muddier wall colour than a brighter one.

I hope I haven't confused you more but I thought I'd throw my thoughts out there. Good luck

I think one colour is best for your room and I don't think you need a feature wall your headboard is enough to carry that wall. I am not sure what colour shade for the lamp just that it should be glass for some sparkle.

tryntodecorate's picture
tryntodecorate

how about all straw hat and a dark shade for the lamp?....if you want a feature wall you could just do the bottom half of the wall behind the bed....but with the low ceiling i found painting it out....looked better...those our tough angles.......oh and Lasalle...my room's not finished.... :o ...I haven't painted the second coat....gosh...better get the umph to finish....I got my girls ( and guys )waiting for pictures.............. :D

p.s....I didn't read the 6 previous pages so I may have stepped out of line with my comment...so apologies in advance........

No need to apologise :biglol:

At this late hour, after much lying on the bed and staring at the walls, even asking my boys to tell me which colour they prefer...
I am thinking I should paint ALL the walls Straw Hat, and no blue walls. :D
Get a white lamp.

That's ok, I remember what her room looks like anyway, her room was done recently. ;)

I think one colour is better also but that s me. Which blue do you like better. Even thought the sales person says Yarmouth Blue doesn't mean Gossamer Blue your original choice which you thought was perfect is wrong. I don't like the idea she gave you I still think the Straw Hat should go behind the headboard only. Like tryntodecorate said it will make the room too choppy.

It would be nice if tryntodecorate would post some pics of her bedroom to show you what her room looks like with one colour.

As some of you know, I went to the store to get the paint...and came home with a lamp and no paint!

It seems Yarmouth Blue is the right blue, not Gossamer Blue, according to the sales lady.

She also suggested I should paint the cupboard wall, which is directly opposite the headboard wall, the same Straw Hat. The other walls facing each other the Yarmouth Blue. Has anyone seen this done before, and is it a good idea?

Wow, decision made and painting will soon begin............hurray.......... :confetti: can't wait now to see the awesome bedroom once it's painted because I love those 2 colours together...... :)

Great news, hope we weren't too hard on you in making this decidion. I think you made a good choice and pls post pics when you are done. I love those two colour combimations.

ok I'm off to get the Straw Hat for behind the bed, and the Gossamer Blue for the walls! wahoo! If it is too dark, then I'll opt for the lighter shades.

Thanks Chatter! Yes I'm positive that it was straw hat. I'm not sure if anybody still has the BM 2005 borcures still kicking around but it was featured in one of those and that's where I chose it from.
The drapes were just cheapies at Ikea. I wanted to pool them and they were the only ones that were long enough. They are lined though and kind of a linen texture. They were a good find.

I say go for the straw hat and gossamer blue. Lasalle is right! Your room is so nice and bright, it will look great and have a new fresh feeling.
No more stressing! Just choose, buy your paint and it's done! :clapping:

No, Glas, I'm sure she lied about it being Straw Hat

Cat, don't kill me for this, but.... seeing as you're having so much trouble deciding on the shade of blue and yellow, maybe you should consider a completely different colour for the room. The walls don't have to match your comforter exactly -- they can be a complementary colour.

How about BM CC-580 Glazed Green -- it looks really nice with Gossamer Blue. And these other BM greens:

CC-610 Tea Light
CC-698 Killarney
HC-116 Guilford Green

Or, if you really want blue, how about Gossamer Blue on the wall behind your bed and Ocean Air on the other walls.

I agree with luvtodecorate and make up your mind for you, straw hat and gossamer blue, the almond is boring like you said on your previous post and the lighter blue is not much different than you have now. So get the paint and you will feel so much better. Don't go insane over paint its not worth it.....

Thanks for sharing your pics and colour, is that really straw hat? Also where are your drapes from and the 2 blue chairs ?

I love your TV room :applaud:

Cat, I'm going to make up your mind right now.............straw hat behind the bed and blue the remainder of the walls.

Where is JanetC?............she will be getting her bedroom done before you........hurry up Cat

Vote for #2. I agree with Jeep that I prefer the blue on the window wall. I think the Gossamer Blue & Straw Hat look richer & with the light coming in your room I don't think you need to worry about it being too dark.

Vote for #3 I like the blue by the window better when I see it in the picture.

I have given this colour choice to you twice already and I'm staying with it,
Choice 2: blue walls and straw hat behind the bed, sloped wall only. I would love to see a picture when it is all done.

muranogirl's picture

Yes, I couldn't remember what colour I'd picked for my walls. I knew that I'd matched it to a pillow but when you mentioned straw hat I remembered that's the colour! We bought 3 different yellows before we settled on the straw hat. It's hard to find just the right yellow. Sometimes it looks right on the sample but when you paint it looks orange.

I do have to admit though, that looking at the photos that were posted I love this option the best, with the almond and lighter blue.

I think that both options would work though!

I say go for it!

Murangirl, you've gotta be kinding me! That is Straw?! Remember I asked you in your chair post what the colour was on your walls because it went so well with your new blue chair and white drapes and the leather ottoman, and I had picked some colours already but wanted to know what you had, and look at this it is the same choice!!

I think you have convinced me, I have always liked the Straw and the Gossamer blue, but have been doubting myself, thinking it would be too dark, so opting for the lighter blue and the almond.

How about a poll?
Vote 1, 2, 3, or 4

First 2 are Gossamer Blue and Straw
Next 2 are Ocean Air and Almond Bisque
