I friggin drew up my bedroom myself, as I couldn't find any similar layout on the net. :biglol:
Some things to note:
The room is not as big and spacious as it looks on here, or as neat, LOL
The slope by the headboard is quite sloped.
So here is what is in my head right now of how to paint my walls.
Option One
Would it be ok if I used 3 colours?
BM Gossamar Blue for the dark blue walls
BM Almond Bisque for the light coloured walls
and BM Straw Hat only behind the headboard
My reasoning is. I love the blue, matches the new comforter. The rest of the walls I don't want dark, so the Almond Bisque should do it. But the headboard area needs something, so I thought of using the Straw Hat, which matches the inner of the bedding.
I'll post another option, but only using 2 colours. ;)
Gees, help me so I can stop thinking and just go buy the friggin paint!!!

I like those colours! I have straw hat on my walls and it's a really nice colour.
Here's some photos of the straw hat....

I say go for it!
Are you saying don't paint? lol
One more! :biglol:
I tried to combine two photos to give you an idea of the 'nook'.
Ok after seeing those pictures remind me again why you want to paint I love the color you have. It looks so calm and restful and airy isn't that what everyone is trying to get and you have it already.
I have two windows.
Morning sun, East facing wall is the window wall.
No tv in the room, but dh does have a desk in there, for when he works from home. Don't even go there about removing the desk to another room, or to get a work station armoire, I have tried many times. I just turn a blind eye to that part of the room.
How big is it? It is fairly large, or large enough.
Here are some more pics. I just photoshoped the dresser out as it is being replaced, and I don't want it distracting the overall look.
With so many different pictures I am not sure if you have tried this one. How about the blue on the headboard wall and the rest in the Almond Bisque on the rest of the room.

Is this a decorators rule? If it is, I am going in the complete wrong direction by wanting the blue on the window wall.
What does he mean by "cohesive tone' regarding my room?
A really light neutral and a dark accent means I must rule out Almond Bisque and Gossamer Blue being together. So either I paint all the walls the dark Gossamer Blue and the Straw behind the bed, but I am afriad the room will feel too dark and cave-like. Or I must use Almond Bisque and a lighter blue, like BM Ocean Air (which is as light as I have now :o )
A mockup with a lighter blue and the Almond Bisque.
Does anyone have a BM fan deck, is BM Ocean Air dark enough, not too light?
im glad to see you are having just as much fun as i am.....its frustrating when you think you have a room pulled together, only to find out your not pleased and need to start all over again. :hairpull: I have about a week to make up my mind for paint color, and i dont stall, when dh is ready to paint i must be ready...first sign of nice weather, i have lost him. :) Good luck! i hope you get it all figured out.

Did you get a chance to read Karl's advice on page 172? I don't always agree with him, but his basics on this similar question seemed reasonable.
I'm going to quote a few more parts. "Try painting three walls using the most neutral colour and then the fourth wall with an accent colour. Inspiration for the accent colour can come from an accessory in the room, like a pillow.....Apply the accent colour to the focal wall of the room. In the bedrrom, it's always the wall that the headboard sits against". IMO, especially in your room were the sloped ceiling is interesting and makes in like a bed canopy. "Consider choosing cohensives tones for the neutral and accent wall. A really light neutral and a really dark accent would give too much visual weight to the focal wall creating an unblanced look."
I don't know if this too much info overload. Karl's advice seems to apply to your room. After I saw your real pictures I definitely withdraw my suggestion of two shades of blue.
BTW, I thought his answer to someone wanting a window covering for glass doors was way off. He suggested Wallpaper for Windows - but then the person wouldn't be able to see out. I like the Wallpaper as long as it for a window you don't look out, like in a basement.
not a very clear one but - straw and window wall almond bisque
I realize I only have the picture of the almond bisque but I can take a picture of the straw hat beside the almond bisque now that I think of it :hairpull: I have them side by side in my livingroom. Oh well first I will post my almond bisque in my bedroom I have other colors but they are berry and green so you will know which is almond also - maybe in one you can see the straw hat that I have in the hallway. maybe
Shannon :)
What size is your room? How many windows do you have? How is the light? What time of the day will you be in this room the most? The reason why I am asking is I painted my Bedroom SICO Cotton Duck fairly dark brown but not chocolate brown. We do not have a TV in our master so more time is spent in other rooms in our house. At night it is a warm and cozy room the colour makes you feel this way it does not look or feel dark. My final answer is still straw behing the bed the rest blue. Once everything is in place it will look amazing.
Cat, the rest of the walls in blue.
I vote for an all blue room too - with the exception of the wall behind the headboard in straw...
Why not paint the whole room Gossamer Blur at 50% strength?? It'll be a lighter version of the blue in your bedding, and then the bedding will stand out more against the lighter colour.
:biglol: I hear you! :D I am doing the straw behind the headboard and the window wall the blue, but what about the rest of the walls?!
but..but, I can't paint the whole room in the blue! It is a very dark colour.
So that is why the Almond bisque comes into play :D
Kindernut, can you pleeeese show me your almond bisque wall! and the straw too. :D
Lasalle, that's exactly what I had told Cat to do.........it will really make the bed the focal point in that colour.
Ok you now have your two colours picked Straw Hat and Gossamer Blue, the almond is now out of the picture since you used the boring word to describe the colour. The one big slope by the headboard is where you accent colour should go, now is it the blue or the straw hat. The bed is the focal point in the room that is where your statement is so saying that I would put the straw hat on the one big slope, the headboard will be behind this and the rest of the room in blue.
When you buy the two test pots see if you can paint both colours behind the headboard, try to cover as much area as you can. Place your new bedding on it and see which one strikes your eye first. Your first impression is the one you always go back to. Post pictures if you need to . You will make the right decision for you and the room will look great..
Decisions, decisions decisions! Yikes ! I love change but it is stressful.
I have Almond bisque and Straw Hat on my walls . I love color so you may not agree with me but I think the Almond is very pale. I would go with the blue and the Straw. The straw hat is a nice neutral color - I don't think too dark. I should post pics of my room - but then you guys will laugh for I have three colors in my room - not much thought put into it just love a change. I will take a few pics and post. In the meantime I think straw and the blue will be perfect! :)
1) What colour is on the walls right now and how many colours?
2) Is only one wall slope or is there more than one?
3) In your gut what colour do you really love?
I am confused too :biglol:
1) I have one colour a pale blue on all the walls, matching the previous duvet cover. But a few months later, I found this great deal on this comforter, thought it was the same blue, but only when I brought it home, realised it is not the same blue. The comforter is more warm greeny-blue, the wall a cool grey-blue.
So, I like the comforter set, more than the duvet. So I want to repaint the walls.
2) There is one big slope by the headboard, and a shorter almost unnoticable slope by the cupboards.
3) My gut feeling is I like the dark Gossamer Blue and the Straw Hat (both colours match spot-on to the bedding). The Bisque is just a boring beige to me, but it is a lighter shade of the straw and I don't want a dark room.
I am getting the tester pots, but really it isn't what colour chip, but more where the colours I have picked should go so I can know how much paint to buy.
So what now?
I getting very confused with all the pictures posted, sorry. Questions:
1) What colour is on the walls right now and how many colours?
2) Is only one wall slope or is there more than one?
3) In your gut what colour do you really love?
Remember after everthing is painted, your furniture is placed, drapes and artwork hung the room will all come together, I think the difficult part is the different angles in your room and normally you paint all one colour so the room does not seemed cut up. Hope this makes sense. Have you thought of buying sample pots and trying them on the walls?
I still prefer the one neutral colour and find accents with the blue with artwork, throw cushions or even a chair in blue from HomeSense. Seems everyone is finding great chairs there.
So back to 2 colours? The Almond Bisque and then a lighter blue, or the same dark Gossamer Blue?
The last picture you posted with the bed on the light almond cloured wall I am not sure what is the correct name but I like it really makes your bed pop and gjoing up the wall and the angle wall is great. Wow those rooms with the angle ceiling are tough.
The Almond Bisque on colorcharts is way off on my monitor.
The Gossamer Blue I am 100% fine with. I only need to decide where the colours should go. I like the Straw Hat behind the bed too. It matches 100% to the bedding too.
I can't buy paint until I know how much I need to buy, whether a small tin of the blue and straw and a big one of the bisque, or a big one of the blue and bisque, and a small one of the straw. huh, now I'm confused.lol
Cat, looking at the colorchart "bisque" seems to be too dark.....I would lighten that one and keep the blue.....remember it took you a long time to find the right blue.........cannot help you with the blue, because the colours on the computer always come out wrong...............IT'S FINAL.........I hope..........you can paint........maybe Saturday ;)
ok, one more. Maybe I should do all Bisque and lighten the Blue to one chip down, BM Ocean Air. But that would almost be as light as what I have now.
cat, we seem to be posting exactly the same time, it's the straw hat and the blue you chose to go with it............
I can't seem to use my smilies, rats...........
It's Friday the 13th?!!! oh gees :biglol:
I agree, but the straw is too dark for the whole room to be painted in it as well as the dark blue. So I'm opting for a lighter shade.
the last mock up you did and yes please hurry and buy the paint.......but then again, it's Friday, the 13th........gosh I hope there is no black cat and ladders around
