ok, here it is

I friggin drew up my bedroom myself, as I couldn't find any similar layout on the net. :biglol:
Some things to note:
The room is not as big and spacious as it looks on here, or as neat, LOL
The slope by the headboard is quite sloped.

So here is what is in my head right now of how to paint my walls.

Option One

Would it be ok if I used 3 colours?
BM Gossamar Blue for the dark blue walls
BM Almond Bisque for the light coloured walls
and BM Straw Hat only behind the headboard

My reasoning is. I love the blue, matches the new comforter. The rest of the walls I don't want dark, so the Almond Bisque should do it. But the headboard area needs something, so I thought of using the Straw Hat, which matches the inner of the bedding.

I'll post another option, but only using 2 colours. ;)

Gees, help me so I can stop thinking and just go buy the friggin paint!!!

I did myself a mockup, lol Straw and the Blue

I am not much help but I think 3 colours with all the angles you have in that room is just to much.I also think that there is to much contrast between the blue and the almond.

Here is a photo of the bed. The rest of the room is a mess :o :biglol:
oh, also white pillow is needing a cover and a friend. And the lamps are going. I'm wanting white shades or cream shades.

Why is it so dark? Must be the bleak weather outside.

Cat, I don't think your bed is going to "pop out" having the darker blue against the back because of your blue duvet as well........I really think that you should go with what I suggested earlier. ;)

I do not like the idea of 3 colours, use the almond on all walls and ceiling except for the accent wall in blue behind the bed and up the slope. What is on your floor? If its hardwood find a rug with some of the blue in it. What window treatment s are you using? Almond coloured drapes with a band of the blue at the bottom or the sides will bring in the blue more.

The floor is beigey carpet. I will be getting a shaggy/high pile rug to go at the foot of the bed later, once I know what the walls will be.
The windows have thick white drapes with gromets. I really like them, and don't feel the need to change them as well. I was hoping to keep the white accent colour in the room, maybe with a throw on the bed, to break up the blue and lighten the mood.
I agree the almond drapes is a good idea, I'll keep it in mind.
Is this what you had in mind. I didn't make the ceiling the bisque as well.

With the bedding mostly blue, I feel it is too much blue with all the walls blue as well. But that's why I'm here, to broaden my ideas, lol

Cat, I like the colours as set in the last picture you posted........I think it gives your bed the focal point in that bedroom as it deserves it.

I'd like to see the darker blue behind the bed and up the slope and a pale blue/gray on the walls. I'm just suggesting this because you say you want a blue bedroom. Can you mock this up.

I think I would like to see you using only two colors also.
The Blue and the Straw Hat. Leaving out the bisque.
If the room is too dark, maybe you can lighten it up in other ways.

I'm off to bed now. My brain is freezing up, lol. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have fresh ideas and can buy the paint!
Keep the suggestions coming. I think we just might be close to finalising it.

I can't think straight with those weird colours. So I redid it. :biglol:

yeah, insert 'confused icon here' too, lol
So the only Bisque would be by the cupboard doors? Why do I have it then. Toss it out and paint that the Straw. But now the room might be getting too dark.

Or actually, how about this with the entryway walls all Almond Bisque.....

I think this is what I mean -- but I might have gotten myself confused!!

:) Yes - much easier.

How about a mockup with a blue room, and Straw Hat behind the headboard. No bisque... Too much blue?

I was going to suggest the same thing as puddlejumper, to carry the accent colour behind the bed right up the slant. I think that'll really have an impact and give you the colour that you want.

But I think I would change the colours around a bit -- put the blue on the window wall and the opposite wall, Straw Hat for the accent wall, and Almond Bisque on the wall opposite from the bed.

ooh, let's see...

I agree with Smoogie and Puddlejumper - the Strawhat needs to be carried up the sloped wall or it might look too choppy.

Also, in the last set of pictures, the wall with the bench is two different colours (blue and bisque). I would suggest the bisque on that wall to carry through that colour - otherwise the entrance might look separated from the rest of the room. Just my thoughts...

oops, I see it now. I agree the bisque looks better than more of the blue. See isn't deciding about a chair easier than choosing paint? :biglol:

Here is another choice. But I don't want you to choose this one, LOL :biglol:
I want a blue room, not another beige room.

like this? I would be worried the sloped ceiling might be too dark. I guess the opposite would be white to make it seem higher?

What about doing option 1 with the 3 colours, but taking the Straw Hat all the way up the slope? It might add a little more "oomph" behind your bed.

itsjustme's picture
itsjustme

Yes, but in my case, the wall behind the headboard is very low and only a narrow strip around the headboard shows. Whereas the wall by the windows is the first thing you see walking into the room, before the bed even. So I thought to give it the impact. It is also the dark wall, so I don't mind painting it dark, and the oppostite walls the lighter almond to attract the light.

In May Style @ Home, page 172, Karl Lognes says when talking about accent walls "In the bedroom, it's always the wall that the headboard sits against".

The Gossamer Blue is more like this:

And Straw Hat close to this. Almond Bisque is just much lighter.
