Old Shed needs new life

We inherited a large old wooden shed when we bought our house last year. It is stucturely sound, but my hubby and I are thinking of giving it new life with a few patch ups, a good sand, a lick of paint.

What colour would you suggest to paint the shed?

We don't have much of a garden, yet. Just a few trees surrounding the property. I looong for a beautiful colourful garden someday...

Yes, yours sounds exactly like I would like. It must be wood, old wood windows, birdhouses, clay pots spilling out with flowering summer plants.Makes you want to get outside and get going in the garden.....Please stop rain........

I agree, I would love it too...a wooden one of course no aluminum...
with old clay pots and stuff, window boxes brimmimg with hanging plants and a bird house or 2 nailed to the corners. What about an old weather vane on top too. One day...........:)

Oh, I would dearly love a little shed to fix up as a potting shed. You see so many very cute old ones in the garden magazines. One of these days.......

I too would love to see a picture. Please show us so we can start sending ideas your way!

The shed that came with our older home needed work, and my FIL took it apart and rebuilt it for us last year. It turned out really nice! When it came to paint, we decided to do a test run on colours we may use on the house when we get to painting it. It's also fun to do a different colour scheme on the shed, whether it's co-ordinating colours or something that makes it stand out as a quaint little focal point in the garden.

Do you want the shed to blend in with the rest of the house or stand alone as another stucture? Do you have windows in it? What material is it made of...all wood ? I guess what I am asking is do you want it a focal point in the backyard?

Paint it a colour close to the colour of your house (if it's siding), or the trim on your house. It really depends on what look you want to achieve. Do you want it to coordinate with your house, or would you rather it be a colourful bit of whimsy in your garden (if it's a smaller shed) ? There are so many colours you could paint it. Maybe you could post a pic so we have something to work with? My neibours go to a log home builder and take remnants of logs (from when they square them) to cover their shed with. It looks really cute and rustic.
