and lots of new corn for tonite...
Tomorrow is the last of our CRAZEEEE Saturdays, after that, people are leaving and arriving at all different times, so there is actually some time to get the vacation houses ready for the new guests in a leisurely manner...after tomorrow, my laundry room wont'be full of dirty sheets and towels Saturday night and all lined up with laundry baskets ready to go on Saturday mornings. My Maytag and I will lean back and have a cool one together -- I love that washer and I can tell you, we have been through a lot together...
We are both so tired and stressed (meaning DH and I now, rather than me and the Maytag)-- trying to imagine how nice it will be in a few days...we have the loveliest couple that rent the one house every fall, they have two beautiful Maine Coon cats...they will be arriving next Friday and staying for three weeks...really looking forward to seeing them again. After that, it's mostly weekends...KOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
We had one lady from hell this summer, her husband is a banking big shot, currently rebuilding the economy in Albania (her words, not mine) -- not sure that I've noticed that much patriotic spirit out of many bankers...anyway, you can't imagine how mean she was...they came here for a family birthday, but in the summer we rent by full weeks only. So the day she arrived, DH went over and asked her if everything was to her liking and she said Yes it was. Then suddenly the day after the family event, it wasn't...wanted her money back, wrote a nasty letter to the local paper....I said to her, Why did you tell DH that everything was fine if you weren't happy? Oh, she said, I didn't know who he was...Well, that makes sense...He introduces himself and proceeds to check the pool for you, but sure, could have just been a wandering good samaritan...beam me up, scotty...
Gads I'm too tired to be bored. I wish you guys who were looking for excitement could come to my house as I could keep you busy or a few days easy.
Meanwhile I am going to hit the couch, flat out. Last night I made the mistake of going for an ice cap which has caffeine which I don't usually do and so I was awake all night. This morning on my way to go and have the car's ball joint replaced (before the wheel fell off) I had another ice cap to keep me awake while I waited for the car. When the car was done I decided I was just brave enough (foolish enough maybe) to go and look at cars (before that car of mine costs one more nickel). By the time I visited a couple of places it was getting hot so now I am home and the tiredness has hit. Guess my plans for the afternoon are on hold lest fall asleep on a shovel.
We have been and back from berry picking got lots. Those blackberries are so prickly way worse thatn raspberries. I am all marked up and they grab your clothes and won't let go. We saw lots of beds where the bears had been sleeping and tracks but no bears. We got a bucket full in just about an hour. DH wants to goes again next week and take a branch trimmer so he can grab the high ones and snip them off and bring them down so we can get the big ones. Now off to bake dessert. DH is going to ice cream have to have that with it.
poke him with the fire power and tell him to get a move on...that might light a fire under his ass....LOL
sorry that's just what i would do :D
One phone call after an other now DH is yakking with his DB and that could take some time. I am sitting with my hat on and coffee ready to go. :bliss:
I thought you'd gone already! You know, berries to pick, bears to shoot, that kinda day, lol (insert 'cheeky grin' here)
I freeze them on a cookie sheet first so they are frozen loose just like frozen peas then I bag them and you can pour out what you want. Any kind of berries freeze really well. I make freezer jam if I get enough. The batter pudding is so easy and so yummy it is a old tried and true recipe from MIL.
If I knew what to do with all the berries, I might consider doing that too. Do you freeze them? And then what can I use them in? Berries is kinda new to me, being foreign and all :p
oh oh oh oh oh
can i come mom...i promise to be good :D
It is such a nice day here about 25 and sunny so we are going berry picking. The blackberries are ready and so yummy. DH took the dog out for a run this AM and saw ahuge black bear so we will have to be careful but DH will bring along some fire power just in case. Maybe if we get enough I will make a blackberry batter pudding for dessert for tonight.

A new day, still bored? I must get out the house today, it is still summer after all, and still holiday, even though the countdown to school has started.
Pretty boring here just Sweet and Sour Meatballs good but boring with really nice fresh corn on the cob. Sat outside on the patio and it is so peaceful and private not a sound around. Yeh ItsJust me the car in the background has family man written all over it.
Didn't cook today......went out to eat hamburgers at Licks and ice-cream for desert...yummy!..........that's when DS told us the news while we were eating and he knew yesterday.......kids......didn't he know how anxious we were to know if he passed or not ......we said we could have gone somewhere else to eat to celebrate......oh well, it will be another time.......
i swear today was the longest most boring day i have had all summer....i had the kids dragging furniture around the house... :D as for dinner, we had spagehetti. :) Tonight we took the girls fishing and i was still bored  and its now 9:45 and im still bored... i hope im not bored when im sleeping!

LOL...that's hilarious...my scale and i have an agreement too...i don't eat and it tells me what i wanna hear
Pasta with fresh garlic and olive oil, together with parsley and tomatoes from the garden.....topped off with freshly grated pecorino romano. Salad (also from the garden) on the side. Neopolitain Ice cream for dessert..but don't tell my scale please ;)
Pork and crab together? KD for the boys? Don't your kids eat the same food as you? My boys would love some crab! :D
roasted pork loin...mushroom rice...king crab legs...ceaser salad....and KD for the boys...apparently it all tasted pretty good
No! Lucky him to have me! lol. I keep reminding him, no one will want him, only I love him ;)
I'm pondering what to do with a chicken. Probably just roast it with some potatoes. I'm bored with summer foods, bring on the winter baked dishes!
I'm making whole-wheat vegetarian pizza with topped with leftovers. I have some leftover tomato sauce and leftover grilled veggies (zucchini, mushroom, pepper, eggplant, onion). I'll top it with olives and parmesan.
We have lots of fruit around, so I'll likely make a fruit salad to serve with natural yogurt.
And itsjustme: that is quite the hottie in that picture - lucky you!! :) :D
I am just making BBQ'd chicken, garden salad with a homemade dressing and rice. Pretty boring but my DD likes it and its just the 2 of us tonight like most nights.
Everyone says dinner is cooking but didn't say what's for dinner as it is only 2 in the afternoon here maybe I will get some ideas. DH watched Chef Micheal Smth this week and now wants to make his Stew with biscuit topping so he is going to give that a try tomorrow. He'll use Moose meat in place of beef soit will be tasty. It is still very nice and warm here and no bugs so we have eaten outside every breakfast and dinner all summer so nice on the patio morning sun and evening shade.
LOL!! Just need to change the vehicle in the background. :p
YEA BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :biglol: :biglol:
I am bored too, my daughter is cleaning her room quietly, dinner will be in teh oven in a few mins and then all I have to do is make a salad.
I spent the day working doing a ton of research. I would much rather be painting my front hall, but that will have to wait for another day.
The dump site doesn't charge by weight for clean rubble like this. It only costs $5 a trailer load. A passerby said he wants it to fill up his sloping yard, so we'll see if he emerges tomorrow to claim it. That's also why we waited a week to clean up. Poor postman. I found our daily newspaper thrown in there somewhere, three days later!
Kind of a sexy picture don't you think? ;) ;)
