Orange Ivy Geraniums

Can anyone tell me if there is an orange variety of Ivy Geranium? I am hoping for a "true" orange, not a reddish orange.

You're welcome. I have not have any problems with my ivy geraniums but yellow/browing of the leaves could be from over- or underwatering. Always fertilize with a balanced fertilizer to make sure there is no nitrogen deficiency - geraniums are heavy feeders. right now I give 20-20-20 every 8-10 days. Good luck, hope this problem goes away, they are beautiful flowers!

I haven't been online since I asked you to post pics of your front! These weeks have been flying by!
Well, I just wanted to say thanks (as everyone else did). Very inspirational indeed.

I'm definitely keeping my eyes open for orange mimulus. Your ivy geraniums look great. Do your leaves ever turn brown ? Mine do. The leaves that are burried more in the middle and underneath go brown or turn yellow starting at the ends. Do you think it's due to too much watering? They keep flowering, but I'm grooming them almost daily. I thought I should ask for some preventative maintenance.

Thanks for your nice remarks. Yes, I have blinds on the french doors but I pull them only at night when I go to bed, I don't really like the blinds but they were here when we moved in this house last year and I haven't found an other solution. I send you a pic, you'll see there is also a fabric valance attached, again not my favourite but the blinds are nicely hidden behind when pulled up - which is almost all the time -.

I love your colour choices - BUT I must ask - do you have any window treatments on your french doors?? I just recently got new patio doors installed and cant figure what to put on them for drapery/blinds - this is in the master bedroom going out onto a deck Thanks and sorry for off topic ..

Thank you again for sharing your garden pictures. Your flowers are growing nicely. Can't wait to show you mine. I worked all day in the rock garden. It's starting to grow, I lost many of my flowers this year.
I'll have to plant more this week. Again, your garden is an inspiration!

Here is the area I put the plant stand.

Suzie, I bought this plant stand at Home Depot, it's from Rubbermaid. We put one of the moss baskets in it and I really like the way it looks. This might be an idea for around your pool. The basket has verbenas, impatients and petunias in it

Managed to take a few pics before it started to rain! Here is a overall view of the yard, it's all growing very nicely

Oh, thanks for the nice remarks. Yes, the pics are last years. I'll take some today if I have time and post updates. About the roses, I would wait with fertilizing, they might be a little bit in shock after the transplant, so just give them some water for now. I have only one rosebush and therfore don't know to much about roses. Have a great day, I'm happy that the good weather came your way!!

I was just looking at your house again, you have a beautiful home! Your flower look gorgeous (last year's)??
I spent all day in my garden, we are having a beautiful sunny day. I'm going back in the garden. Ah yes, I transplanted a rose bush, should I just water it for now or should I water and fertilize?? It's so much fun to be out there!!!

Sorry to hear you couldn't find any orange flowers, they are so nice, my mimulus are growing daily and I'll take more pics during the summer. I send you pics from last year where you see my front garden. We had lots of iyv geraniums and they grew in huge balls.

I wanted to get orange flowers too! I looked everywhere for something trailing for my hanging baskets but couldn't find a thing. Nothing looked healty either......I guess they were all snatched up on the long weekend. I ended up getting bright pink ivy geraniums. They're beautiful also, but I had my heart set on orange for months! Maybe I'll find something orange for my big black urn that my cousins gave me for a house-warming gift!

Lisi......have you posted any pics of the front of your home? I think you have the prettiest backyard I've seen in a long time. Great for parties/bbq's!! ;)

They are beautiful. I will see if I can find them at our local greenhouses.

They are called very appropriate: Orange Trailing, Mimulus (Monkey Flower) like shade/part shade.

Sorry, I didn't make it to the nursery today. You are right purple and orange would look great, as you see I have my mimulus with purple petunias, I love it. I find my pansies don't usually last all summer, right now I have orange violas with alyssum in blue planters, you probably saw that pic but I think I'll have to replace them with orange marigolds later, I have dainty ones I like. Good luck with your veggies. I have also beans, tomatoes, onions, garlic and tons of herbs.

the orange mimulus would look so nice with dark purple or dark blue pansies. If I find that plant I want to do that in a large black pot I have. Right now must plant carrot and bean seeds to go in with tomato and cucumbers I put in yesterday.

Elise; believe me I'm not that good of a gardener, it's just very easy to grow here and DH is always helping big time. I like to switch to more perennials and have lots to learn!
I'll keep everyone updated, nice to know it's appreciated. (Artsy, really, really need to see your Eden!).
Dreamer; I'll try to get the exact name from the nursery, plan to go this afternoon. DD just left... (sniff!!)

Hi, what a nice orange flower! I'm always looking for orange flowers and there's nothing around here. I love it. I'll start looking for that.
Thank you again for sharing your garden!

I think they should fire Marjorie and Jennifer Reynolds and hire you as the gardening expert. All you have to do is show pictures of your beautiful garden and people will be hanging themselves from your arms wanting to know all of your secrets!! It's always a treat to come to the gardening forum to look at your handiwork!!! Thanks, oh and one more thing, I hate you!!!!

yes it must be a new variety as my book shows salmon-orange flowers. Apparently it grows well indoors also.

Well, my yard faces north, so they get some sun in the morning and then mostly shade. Apparently ours are a new variety, it's a nice orange not salmon.

but thought it was best in shade? Maybe it is one that can take both sun and shade? I had some last year in my flower bed, in a spot that did not get much sun. It is beautiful!

is also called Monkey Flower, salmon orange flowers are Tropicana, but it comes in other colours too. It likes sun and is trailing.

Glad to see you back! Orange geranium, I wish!! I went through my little only geranium book but couldn't find anything close to orange. Orange is one of my favourite colour too and DH actually found this plant for the hanging basket this year, I l o v e it and next year we will have many of these. Went outside and took a pic, it's a mimulus, unfortunately can't find the tag to give you the exact information. I like how it looks with the purple petunia and lobelia. Are you looking to plant in containers? Hope Artsy will be back soon, she had you started so nicely, wanted to copy some of her stuff myself. Anyhow, have to run to Chapters now, DD is leaving for Paris then on to Roma and Venezia. (lucky girl!)
