My coleus that I bought in the spring grew huge! It is at least a foot high and probably a foot and a half wide. I live in Victoria, so the winters are usually quite mild (maybe one snowfall, usually none). I know that a coleus is usually treated as an annual, do you think I can save this one? I am actually thinking of giving it to a friend to plant in her garden, because mine has overtaken the pot that it is in. Also, has anyone had any luck taking cuttings and growing it as a houseplant? If I can't over winter it, I might try to grow a few pieces of it inside over the winter and starting over again in the spring (especially since it grew so fast!)
Thanks everyone

that it will survive outside even in BC -- the slightest frost and they're gonners, just like basil or impatiens. But they can do well inside, just be sure they don't have whieflies or other insects -- quarantine the cuttings for a while to make sure.
are very easy to root from a piece of the plant and they root quickly in water ina bright window. . The more you nip the ends off each stem the bushier it will be.
