Hi all - I am beginning to choose paint colours after waiting the obligatory year of letting the house settle (we live in the suburbs in a new development). To start, we will be doing the main floor which includes front entrance and hall, living/dining room, kitchen and family room.
The kitchen and family room are open concept and take up the back wall of the house. The kitchen has natural maple cabinets, tile flooring called 'slate black' though it is porcelain and has more of a light black/greyish//bluish feel to it. We will be putting in a black matte subway tile backsplash too.
The family room has light maple floors and a 20 foot ceiling. I'm thinking of painting the back wall of the house and all other kitchen walls one colour (like a neutral taupe or beige - something pulled from my counters which are a faux granite pattern of black and brown) and the remaining walls of the family room (side wall and wall you see when watching TV) another colour - maybe a green? Can you help with suggestions of colours that will compliment each other? I also do not want to bring out the orangy pinkiness of the kitchen cabinets.
Here are some pics - looking forward to all your feedback!
